Greetings, fellow sand sifters! Another Tomb Thursday loaded for bear, and we think you’re going to like how we’ve hit the mark!

Certainly, some of you Tomb Raiders are like, “Archers? We don’t need know stinkin’ archers” because Egyptian tombs aren’t very roomy, and getting off a clear ranged shot is no easy task. Welp, you’re not entirely wrong, but this won’t always be the case. DM Ben totally sees scenarios where our featured 3D-printed miniatures could be firing from above or from the opposite end of a long passageway. Hence, you need these TTRPG Sharposhooter minis in your monster squad!

Longtime 3DRPGers might recall that in an earlier post, we highlighted some different crypt soldiers and hinted that we planned on picking up a few more of his sculpts to complete our undead tomb squad. We were just so impressed by the original freebies that he got us hook, line, and sinker for buying a few more from his MMF store.

We’re of course referring to the talented Pollygrim and his awesome Arabian Nights Skeleton Army set! He’s got a keen eye for some slick action poses that fit our Egyptian gameboard to the letter. Now, we need another skeleton miniature like we need a hole in the head (thanks, WOTC prepainted sets), but this Arabian theme is a perfect match.

DM Ben stepped in to paint these new missile-minders, as he had done for the previous melee warriors. He debated putting them in the same purple & red uniforms as the last set, but that safe bet felt boring. With a slew of full paint sets at his disposal, he wanted to try some new paint pots. Instead, he decided our close-combat undead would have one color set, and anything ranged would have a different set of garb.

Pollygrimm has traditional archers but also these fierce crossbow soldiers. We again increased the size of all the STLs here because we prefer our miniatures to fill a full d20 square: easier to paint, easier to see, and easier to move on the gameboard.
Here are the new paint steps DM Ben tried out:
We hesitated to cover the whole 3D print with a black wash (as opposed to just the tattered shirt), but who knows how long these undead have been dead and stuck in this tomb? Of course, they’re going to be rather dirty!

While we were downloading our new ranged soldiers, we couldn’t resist these other foot soldiers. The traditional skeleton fighter was a given, but this arrowed-peppered shielded warrior really caught our resin eyes. With these two additions, that puts our total Arabian Nights Skeleton Army at five different miniatures – perfect.

There was nothing to it for coloring these new sword sentries, as we already had our paint scheme from last time. There are a lot of paint steps here, so clear bases were a natural choice: they look cool with a sandy gameboard surface underneath ’em, and they’re a big time saver.
DM Ben envisions these guys as the Pharaoh’s personal tomb bodyguards, destined to protect his resting-place burial chamber for all eternity. Still, tons of placement flexibility here, and that’s always the hallmark of a great DnD 3D print.
Until next time!
