Greetings, fellow DnD gameboard builders! We’re finding the journalistic pressure to come up with new scatter pieces every Wednesday to be quite motivating and fun, so let’s take another walk around the block!

We’re really targeting TTRPG scatter terrain pieces that do one of three things:
And we’re checking a lot of those boxes. So, when we feature a scatter piece, we’ll not only show where you can get it (if at all possible) but also share what we’re going to do with ’em! Maybe your game group will find some of these featured STLs inspirational for your own campaign. 🙂

Let’s kick off our 3D-print lovefest with this simple cage. Intriguing, right?! This secure enclosure is by STL Miniatures and is from their marvelous Crocodile Handler Set. DM Ben isn’t an airbrush guy, so it was a little tricky getting the entire model, but it turned out great. Easy to paint, too.
Once you get all your core paint colors identified, like wood (GSW Skeleton Brown), metal (ASP Enchanted Steel/FAN Rough Iron), greenery (ASP Forest Sprite), stone (ASP Runic Grey), etc, you will be absolutely amazed at how your scatter terrain output will increase! Look out, Pile of Shame, because we’re comin’ for ya!

It’s been a New York minute since we mentioned wagons (yes, we have obsession issues), so longtime 3DRPGers knew another featured 3D print from this wonderful TTRPG category was bound to show up soon. This simple, yet highly useful DnD cart is by Custom Miniature Maker and is from their amazing Goblin Market Bazaar set!
DM Ben likes the utility of this 3D-printed piece, thanks to its empty cargo bed. He plans to use it for an escort mission or a heavy-item transport mission. We used our go-to wood combo: GSW Skeleton Brown with Citadel’s Agrax Earthshade over the top. Shiny new scatter terrain that can hold even more scatter – delightful.

Next up is this mysterious stone marker by Fantastic Plants and Rocks. This 3D print is a no-brainer, right? Come on, who doesn’t love a good ruin reading in their DnD game? DM Ben sure does. Anything TTRPG scatter that has ruins or inscriptions that need deciphering always greatly increases gameplay, while also nudging a storyline along.
We can say with absolute certainty that it is indeed an FPR 3D print (can tell by its base), but we’re having a little trouble finding the exact monthly Patreon set it’s from. It could also be from one of their Kickstarters. So, we’ll just link to their MMF Store page here to see if you can locate it.

Lastly, we gotta end on the catch of the day! This big ol swordfish flopped on a wooden table is also by STL Miniatures and is from their marvelous Market Set. Again, this was a relatively easy paint because we already have our all-things-fish paint scheme: Prime in flat white, layer on ASP Battleship Grey, and finish with a FAN Blue Tone Wash.
Good ol’ Ewan McHook was one of the very first home-brewed NPCs, and rescuing his beloved boy Shamus from the evil clutches of the Night Hag was a pivotal storyline in our campaign. DM Ben likes to keep going back to all his NPCs, so our favorite angler and boat builder certainly needs a lot of great fish scatter surrounding him!
Until next time!
