Shroom So Soon?

Today’s post is a strong reminder to never underestimate those lil’, up-and-coming creators! They have great stuff, and if you’re periodically checking free STL sites like Cults3d.com, Printables.com, and Thingiverse, you could be really missing out on some fabulous DnD finds!

Last week, we shared our homebrewed Mushroom Alley and the rival feud we have running in our ongoing DnD campaign. The Angry Acorns and Miffed Mushrooms share no love for one another. It’s a dispute as old as time itself. While we already made our Shady Tree and his acorn army, we still needed to flush out our Miffed Mushroom Contingent and its fearless leader.

Let’s start with these especially perturbed DnD mushroom monsters by RatMan Forge. He has a small set of lunatic fungi for free on his MMF page, and the sculpts are so frickin’ good. We’re just thrilled with how these came out and the immense detail packed into each TTRPG STL.

Resident painter Kimmy Utah worked her brush magic, bringing them to life with a burst of color. One of our favorite traits of mushroom monsters is the sweeping number of colors you can paint them in. These two just feel like some vegetable berserkers who will stop at nothing to devour the whole party.

Next is this rough-and-tumble myconid adult by Indiana James. This TTRPG gives off foot soldier vibes and is very much a frontline, swarming attacker. This dandy 3D print is also a free download for thee.

Kimmy Utah painted this gem up as well, and we’re just in awe of her brilliant shading techniques. Each time we unpack a new shipment, we always mutter, “How on earth did she do that? She must be a witch!” DM Ben is really hoping to replicate this one for his own miniatures.

Lastly, we realized that our Miffed Mushroom Contingent really doesn’t have an identifiable leader, as Shady Tree is to his band of Angry Acorns. So, for that key forest position, we leaned in to IRSculpts and his free Mushroom Wizard. If the Monopoly Guy were a mushroom, this is how he would look, right?!

Kimmy did a clean sweep on all things painted on 3DRPGPrints.com today. She totally crushed this one, and we brought it home with a nice forest-flocked base. The short shirt, rope belt, and marvelous mustache are bringing us nothing but joy here. We settled on Teddy Freddy Fungi as an homage to President Theodore Roosevelt. It rings true for this monster NPC since he is Mr. Softspoken, but carries a big stick. Plus, his name is that of legend in the forest, and it rolls off the tongue.
