Greetings, fellow tomb wanderers! We’ve got a really spooky new miniature for our DnD desert setting, and some ornate underground walls to share! Let’s get to it!

We’re continuing our 3D print quest to produce a wide variety of Egyptian terrain and TTRPG miniatures for our Beneath the Sands setting. That’s the cool part of starting a whole new DnD environment: the sky’s the limit. While DM Ben is starting to formulate some encounters in his head, he often likes to see what’s coming “off the line,” as the table-ready RPG pieces can be very inspiring.

So, let’s start with some desert scatter terrain walls. After all, all these fun DnD minis were 3D-printed and need something to stand on, right? Besides, no one could dress up the joint like those god-loving Egyptians!
You might recall an earlier 3DRPG Tile Work post where we showed a few of the fancier Ather Studios’ desert walls. Thankfully, their creative team knows hieroglyphics, and omages to all those Egyptian gods were everywhere in their storied history, so they’ve created a stunning variety of wall options for you to choose from in either Pharaoh or Desert themes.

It’s certainly no accident that we selected Aether Studios as our official terrain tile partner for this Beneath the Sands series. Here’s a perfect reason why: not only do they understand that Egyptians worshipped an insane number of gods (hence all the different historical symbols in their designs), but they also made sure those holy icons were on different types of tiles.
Meaning, they put them on corner pieces, both the traditional box corners and the diagonal corners, as well as on all the heavily used straight-wall tiles. DM Ben stuck with our primary paint scheme, then a little Pokorny Paint Deep Lava for aging/smaller hieroglyphics, and then ASP Hoplite Gold for the larger god symbols.

Now let’s shift gears and take a look at our newest miniature to join our desert ranks. Our creator is none other than Mr. mz4250! He’s got a big presence on 3DRPG, and his continuous creativity deserves as many shotouts as we can give him. His 3D prints are free, but a modest $5 monthly Patreon subscription gives you easy access to his immense library, where it’s much easier to find the STLs your campaign needs.
We recently snagged this Nanny Pu’pu from Tomb of Annihilation as she’s a natural fit to serve the gods in our sandy tombs! We didn’t know anything about her DnD lore, so it was cool to read up on wrinkled ol’ her.

Poor ol’ novice painter DM Ben was once again pressed into service to make a few of these shrivliled servants. Here are his paint steps:
Nothing crazy about the steps, but this is a smaller miniature, so a magnifier was a must (along with some added patience). We liked a sandy flocked base vs painting it, as we wanted these new minis to be flexible in their scenario use.

Here’s a quick shot from the back. So cool. He likes the idea of having 2-4 of these creepy gals standing around a ritual his adventurers are about to crash. Besides, it’s always fun when there are a variety of miniatures in a fight.
Until next time!
