We just want our DnD metal works to be like the B-52’s song – “Shiny, happy Armor holding hands.” Yet, that’s rarely the case simply because our suits often get the shaft in our scatter terrain library. Well, fear no more, brave knights! Your problem is no more!
Any trip to the Armor Merchant or Blacksmith is usually rushed and uneventful. However, if you have the right terrain, it can be a cool encounter with rich characters and gauntlet-grabbing visuals.
Here’s what we mean…if the party simply says, “I go to the Armor Merchant to pick up a new shield” as a verbal aside, that’s snooze city. Yet, if the DM creates a simple terrain (and mini) scene, that same trip now has the chance to be so much more engaging and fun. Also, that refreshed encounter might even add an unexpected new mission or plot hook!
So thank goodness, STL Miniatures answers a knight’s call when it comes to better armor scatter pieces with their worthy Armor Merchant Set. Now you have all sorts of different defense and weapon displays to jazz things up and carry your visual storytelling over the finish line.
Today we’re focusing on this top breastplate, helm, and cloak combination but we’re excited to showcase more painted pieces to you in the future (as our resident painter knocks them out). Now you feel like you’re in the presence of greatness!
Another cool way to utilize this purdy piece is to drop it on the table in front of you any time your character has removed its armor for say, a long rest. It certainly avoids the uncomfortable debate of whether or not you had your protective gear on or off when that snooze didn’t quite go as planned.
Other important instances where demonstrating off-armor would be when you hop into the water or change into a different disguise. DM Ben loves any and all visual clues on the table so that the encounter is more true to the basic rules (and sure would be impressed if he saw this come from one of his players).
How else would you incorporate this particular armor terrain piece into your game? Does the palace hold a valuable piece of armor and your canieving group wants to try and steal it? Did you stumble upon a boss’ private chamber only to realize he’s left his impenetrable platemail off while briefly departing down the hall to take care of some other business? STL Miniatures’ stl is perfect for those scenarios and many more!
