We’re not exactly sure what this thing is in this week’s Miniature Monday installment, but we’re being told this not-so-cuddly creature is a Sharkenbear. Let’s dive in…strike that, let’s look from afar for safety-sake.
There was a time in early 2024 when we got on this big cross-creature monster kick. A couple of 3D Print creators came up with some crazy combinations, and once we started printing them, we couldn’t stop. Now, those minis are coming in hot from resident painter Kimmy Utah, and we’re excited to continue to share them with y’all.
One such creative creator is Yasashii Kyojin Studio. He crossed a bear with a couple of sharks, and the results are pretty darn epic! He calls it a Sharkenbear, and besides hearing that it blew its initiative roll, that monster name sounds excellent to us! He changes up his freebie collection, so you should keep an eye on his website to ensure you don’t miss one moving to the pay zone.
Here’s the Sharkenbear colored in all its glory by Kimmy Utah. She decided to go more polar bear here and then painted its chomping “arms” in the traditional JAWS colors. We just love it! You could certainly try a brown or black bear and get equally terrifying results.
Regarding potential storylines, we’re building upon the Print Bait post we did in October and making this another recent acquisition of our own DnD version of Marvel’s The Collector! Truth be told, we don’t like the traditional comics too much (as no one ever dies), but they got this eccentric character dead right!
His list of oddity monstrosities continues to grow:
And now we’ve got a high-tempered bear with sharks for arms! God bless America…god bless us, everyone!
Even better, The Forgotten Rails has agreed to transport these rare finds in its Livestock cars (for a hefty fee, of course). Waterdeep’s Omin Dran loves the profit margins on these high-risk transfers and will reach out to the party for a new mission sooner rather than later.
As the DM, you can even mess with your players in the most spectacular way by having them first spot the back of this creature and then just assume it’s another angry bear (especially if they are only utilizing dark vision from afar). Don’t you just want to pinch that adorable little tail btw?
We even found an Etsy store that sells this STL and includes a fun stat block: AC 13, HP 105, Bear Bite x1: +7/1d10+5, Shark Bite x2: +7/2d8+4. Even better, with its Blood Frenzy, our has an advantage on attacks against anyone who doesn’t have full points. Yikes.
Lastly, one of fine fit here would be to use this as a replacement monster on our Wilderness Trek Wandering Monster Table! Maybe our poor bear went to hibernate for the winter without realizing he was the victim of a horrible curse and had a rather rude awakening.
Until next time!
