Today, we’re circling back on one of our favorite industrial Hovertrain cars because bigger is always better, right? Let’s explore.
DM Ben envisions two core DnD scenario types with The Forgotten Rails Hovertrain campaign setting: passengers and industrial. He’s naturally drawn to the rugged business encounters (since we’re playing the D&D Beyond Acquisitions Incorporated free 5e module), but having all these new TTRPG scenario options within arm’s reach will be fun and provide more stress-free game prep.
Resident readers might recall our previous Tanker Time post, where we highlighted a smaller tanker train car. It turns out Aether Studios offers an even bigger STL, and we simply couldn’t resist adding this one to our Forgotten Rails lineup.
We’re pulling our 3D print STLs from the same Orc City Express set. The slice and assembly process are the same; we just needed to print a couple more tiles to accommodate the increased length of the large tanker. This time, we printed four undercarriage pieces, two Tanker Bed Ends, and four Tanker Bed Sides on our Prusa FDM printer (which you can always take a live peek at on our Twitch channel).
We colored these tiles in our usual paint schemes: DecoArt Metallic Black Pearl for the metal and a slick wood paint scheme for the rest. The wood tone is by a Milestone Heroes discord user dubbed “Mr Lou.”
Here are the easy steps:
Simple, right?! We use this wood paint scheme on alllll sorts of 3D-printed pieces.
The tanker itself was even easier. We did a slapchop base and then applied a layer of Basilicanum Grey Citadel Contrast Paint to really give this Hovertrain hauler an industrial vibe.
Our previous small tanker article gave you a fun list of tanker hauler contents like Dwarven Ale (yum) or human waste (yikes). If you’re not a fan of those DnD suggestions, you can always pull from Reddit’s List of a 1,000 Liquids.
Just look at this beauty in all its glory! All it needs is a little graffiti next time it passes through Sword Coast’s Skullport, and the look is complete, right?
Until next time!
