Let’s welcome 3D Thursday with some cautious enthusiasm…just no sudden movements as we check out this fab Boar by Brite Minis!
You’ve heard us say it before but we’ll say it again, we just adore this very affordable monthly Patreon subscription because each print is completely hassle-free regardless of whether you go resin or FDM. Brite Minis will often build upon popular releases with additional supporting sculpts that enhance a particular theme. For example, they later released Orc riders that fit right on top of this fella.
So the first natural use of our temperamental animal friend is in any outdoor random wandering monster tables (which you’ll typically find in a module’s transition from one area to the next). For example, in our Acquisitions Incorporated 5e campaign, their adventure offered this cool boar excerpt. Nord Games also offers all sorts of cool Wandering Monster decks (which we love).
Quick Tip: DM Ben likes to have the minis pulled in advance during his session prep using whatever random table fits the situational bill. That way he can just reach into a small box and quickly pull the resulting monster fig(s) and just roll for initiative.
Another awesome use of our pointy tusk foe is through D&D’s 5e Bag of Tricks! The plain ol’ magic item works wonderfully for smaller parties that need a little fighting muscle boost. There are different color bags that offer different monster themes. We’re using the grey version. Super easy mechanic though – your character just reaches inside and pulls a fuzzy ball that you can throw up to 20 feet. Then you roll a d8 on the random table and that monster is now at your disposal til he dies or 24 hours pass. Super cool, right?
Go grab this anything-but-boaring STL and get him into a future game, stat!
