Playing off our Night Hag’s secret cellar, we couldn’t resist adding a few more scattered terrain pieces! Let’s uncover more.
STL Miniatures comes to the rescue yet again with a perfect piece from their Barber Shop set of all places. This super set was part of the insane Fantasy NPCs Kickstarter (an absolute must-own btw).
Now, you might be saying, “When on earth would I ever use a barber shop in my DM game?!” Besides being a fantastic Village pit stop, you will find that with all of the STL Miniatures sets; there’s always a piece that seems to come in handy for one of your subsequent encounter builds.
First, let’s quickly recap. An evil Night Hag lives on the outskirts of Waterdeep in The High Forest and has been snatching up innocent younglings because she needs their tears to keep her power and fake image as an old woman in check. Sometimes, she has to use Disguise Self to counter her fading powers.
So, in her creepy cabin cellar, she keeps this intricate disguise kit handy. It naturally includes cosmetics, hair dye, wigs, small props, and a few pieces of clothing. The Night Hag realized she was outnumbered, so she packed quickly and left her kit behind (which the party would undoubtedly snatch up). DM Ben will need to make an item card for these concealment goodies.
DM Ben was literally just saying not to overcrowd an encounter scene, but he simply couldn’t resist the wig scatter or this collection of little bottles. So, our cellar room is going to need to be a tad bigger in terms of D20 squares, but that won’t be a big deal.
Our meany Night Hag stores all those tears in small bottles in this crate. Our wicked witch always keeps a few of these bottles in her possession in case her spell starts to slip, and she needs a recharge (think 5-hour energy bottles).
We’re going to say that in her packing rush, she inadvertently left a bottle behind in that crate. So now the big question becomes, what the heck happens if someone in the party opens, drinks, or gets some of this crystal clear liquid on their person?
We’ll unpack that and make an item card next week!
