The other day we introduced you to one of our new NPCs, Rishardo Montalwand, and his spell component business. Well, he needed a piece of scatter terrain for the encounter so let’s see what our printer came up with!
As you probably already know, STL Miniatures offers a treasure trove of village sets for nearly every occasion. Even better they print like a champ and are just so darn fun to have in your RPG scatter terrain collection. So when we were poking around for something to represent our magic biz, it didn’t take us long to grab what we needed.
This wonderful wooden furniture item is from their Taxidermist Set and it’s absolutely stuffed with detailly goodness. From the tiny pair of scissors to the furry fellas sleeping underneath, this desk just warms our souls.
Now you can bet your bottom gold piece that we’re ultimately going to share nearly every one of these great 3D RPG bits from the set with you but for now, we’re highlighting the desk because that’s all our own magic store really needs to make it memorable.
Also, you might notice that the stuffed creature in the center of the rendered desk above didn’t quite survive the support removal stage. Don’t sweat that small stuff. You can almost always “save” a print and still make it great. Worse case, you re-print it – big whoop.
Here’s another view of the wizard’s workspace to help showcase resident painter Kimmy Utah’s insanely great work. And those two animal heads are perfect here because our NPC, Rishardo Montalwand, lines up skilled adventurers to harvest their kills (thanks to ThievesGuild.com) and bring back the goods so that he has the best spell component offerings in all the land!
And his musty, dim shop is just this work surface, a long, rickety old shelf, and then a door to a creapy back room. It’s not like a grocery store sorta layout or anything. Customers have to walk in, hear a tiny animated spell bell ring above the door, ask/describe to Rishardo Montalwand what they need to recharge their spell inventory. That’s why DM Ben went with more of a desk here.
But wait! We just realized that Rishardo Montalwand’s shop still needs a name and our game starts in less than an hour! What’s DN to do?! Well, a quick “Dnd spell components shop name” Google search promptly led us to: HouseofLolth.com and their “325 DnD Shop Name Ideas for your Game” and thank gawd DM Ben clicked it!
They had so many great DnD shop name ideas! We narrowed it down to three knee-slapping monikers:
Alas, “Cast-co” was too good to pass up because everyone in our group just adores our town’s Costco and never stops talking about what they bought from it over the weekend!
Now let’s get down to business…your bat guano, heart of a dire hen, boar’s tongue, and owl bear feather comes to about 2,432 gp. Will that be cash or check?
