Look! What’s that on your 3D printer? It’s a monster, it’s scatter terrain…it’s…a mage hand? You bet it is. Time for a little palm reading, as it were. 😉
Sure, there are plenty of store-bought spell effects out there, but if there ever was a DnD category made for your 3D printer, this is the one.
Brite Minis answers the call with a whole set of Magical Effects, including this imposing “Magic Big Hand” (even though “Mage Hand” is considered non-copyrighted). We love this set! There are six slick STLs in all, and we plan on printing and painting each and every one of them eventually because Brite does such excellent supportless STLs.
Novice painter DM Ben decided to color this one over the weekend, and we were pleasantly surprised by the results. Here at 3DRPG Studios, we adore Army Painter Speedpaints and Fanatic Paints, as well as Citadel Contrast Paints. DM Ben just got a little paralyzed at what core arcane color to start with, but thankfully, he got some Discord help and encouragement from rob_anybody82.
Once he had a solid plan of attack, the paint steps weren’t too crazy here.
This scatter piece has the Mage Hand sort of coming up through the ground, so the earthy vibe looks especially good here.
In terms of game uses, our new Mage Hand masterpiece is pretty handy (pun intended) because Wizards are typically a staple in any adventuring party. We certainly have a Wizard in both of our ongoing DnD campaigns and of course, Mage Hand is in each of their spell books. It’s just extra cool to have our player drop this spell effect on the table each time he/she casts it!
Until next time!
