Let’s inject even more personality into our new Hostel Hovertrain stop with some delightful new scatter terrain 3D prints. Remember, it’s the little things that send those all-important warm fuzzies around the game table.

The Bramble Bush Boarding House, run by Briar Thorne, is really coming along nicely. We’ve created our core pieces and selected several fun miniatures, but we still felt that the DnD scatter terrain supporting cast was lacking. So, we fired up our Resin printer and grabbed some model paints to spruce up the hostel campground a bit more. We’ve already made a few complementary scatter pieces, but a few extra pieces never hurt, right?

We’ll be featuring two wonderful creators today, but we’ll start with our inspiration for this home-brewed encounter: The Halfling Hostel Set by STL Miniatures. We love how they come up with such unique scatter terrain options, filled with pizzazz. A stump chair and a log trunk will definitely get a rise out of players.

Since we have a really, really nice set of paint options for wood variants these days, these two TTRPG 3D prints were a breeze. We’re so hooked on GSW Skeleton Brown Dippink Ink (with a black wash over it). For any metal bits, a little ASAP Enchanted Steel does nicely. We use ASP Dark Wood a lot too, and we applied that darker color to the feet of our kitchy log trunk for a little contrast. Good stuff!

Our other scatter terrain piece is from World Forge Miniatures’ Hero Training Camp Collection. Mixed in with their impressive assortment of weapon boxes was a unique piece that we felt had a lot of replay value. It’s a little on the fragile side, but if our oversized meathooks can take off its supports and have it survive, then anyone can.

As you might have seen from our Hot Air Balloon DnD blog post, we’ve come up with a really solid color scheme for sacks. We start with a base layer of GSW Komodo Khaki. Then we come back around with a FAN Soft Tone Wash over the top of that. Lastly, we just used a few ASP metallic speedpaints on our medal weapons while using some Ochre for the tears in the canvas (to represent straw inside the bags). We especially appreciate that this piece can be used both outdoors and inside a dungeon.

Besides some fun pickpocketing skill roles on unsuspecting, tuckered Hostel guests, we utilize scatter terrain for things like:
So, always be on the lookout for unique scatter pieces that fit with an upcoming encounter. You’ll be glad you did.
Until next time!
