He’s a man of the forest and a legend. He’s a “Woodland Cutter” by EC3D Designs and this burley lumberjack is more than okay in our book.
Let’s take a closer look at this perfect NPC for your next outdoor encounter. He hails from their Everyday Folk Part 2 Kickstarter which came on the heels of Part 1 (but probably a little too close release-wise as the second Kickstarter campaign really should have done better). Both sets were chopped full of unique, playable miniatures and are worth every penny as a late pledge.
So many pluses here…EC3D Designs does nearly all its latest miniatures as supportless and they print well FDM (with a .4 nozzle) or in resin. But best of all, the resin versions even include a little edge in the base which makes them waaaaay easier to get off the build plate. If only more model makers would take note of this super handy design element. #HintHint
Let’s take a closer look at our manly man! He’s checking all the boxes with his dashing beard and REI apparel. And of course, our forest breaker swings a big stick! The sculpt is memorable and that makes him a great grab from your display shelf when the encounter timing is just right.
You’re also going to like what you see in your rearview mirror! His mighty ax rests perfectly on his shoulder. He’s also dawning a bit of sash to help portray his rightful mightiness. In a word, he’s “perfect.”
Now has anyone looked at building out a D&D 5e lumberjack? But of course – the internet has everything! Dig deeper with this great discussion on Reddit – they really got into it with some great creative ideas on how to actually build this sorta character as an actual class. Give it a read!
