Sure it’s the dawn of a new work week but on the flipside, it’s also another installment of Miniature Monday!
This marvelous miniature comes from one of our absolute favorite EC3D Designs Kickstarters: Empire of Scorching Sands! There are just so many minis and terrain worthy of your printer.
No one knows this treacherous city better than our beloved Street Rat. He always “has a guy” to solve a problem or knows how to advance your party forward. Naturally, he’s going to have a loaf of “borrowed” bread on hand. 😉
We especially like his gritty, patchwork street attire. He just screams, “man on the move and always for hire.” So now we need to ensure we introduce this guy in a memorable, exciting way.
A city chase skill challenge sure would fit the bill here! DM Ben has an old set of the Pathfinder Chase cards and adapted them for D&D 5e. This time, he wanted something with a little more variety and certainly less conversion work.
So he found some free Urban Chase Cards by Assasin Games on DrivethruRPG! Their print-friendly PDF contains 52 different chase scenario scenes for you to introduce into an exciting village chase! And even though these fun cards are actually for a game called “The Fading Light,” they’re still set for a d20 system so adapting the text DCs to match your party’s current level is a snap.
DM Ben would either pick the desired chase scenes out ahead of time during prep and then just tweak the DCs as needed. Or, another adrenaline-pumping method would be to have party members roll a d100 (as the PDF contains 102 pages) and then do the skill challenge scene for that particular character on the fly!
Either way, your party just met an important NPC that might be worth the thrill of the chase!
