Yesterday, we shared how we’re building the Night Hag’s underground layer and discussed several upcoming encounters, including our favorite twins, Barnabus and Stella Whiteglove. Today, we thought we would show off the two DnD miniatures we will use to represent our bickering servants!Â
The worst thing a Dungeon Master can do is treat their role as work. Yes, a DM’s responsibility never ceases (especially with ongoing home-brewed content), but never lose sight of the fact that this game is supposed to be fun! Stay positive and light-hearted. Think of it this way: you get the most variety of anyone at the game table and have the best seat in the house.
We’ve created two new NPCs and discussed how the group will first encounter them. DM Ben is allllll about adding a Bastion to our work campaign, and if we can slip in a bunch of fun and engaging NPCs, their new digs will become an even bigger part of the game.
Our featured DnD townsfolk miniatures come courtesy of EC3D Designs and their marvelous Everyday Folk 2 Kickstarter. We selected “Female Karen” to represent the moody Stella Whiteglove and “Poor Wanderer” as the deadpanned Barnabus Whiteglove.
Resident painter Kimmy Utah picked up a paintbrush for this twin brother and sister duo. These are some older 3D prints done in FDM on our Prusa Mini printer and pre-adaptive layering slice days. Still, we think they turned out great!
Yes, our NPCs are both human, and ol’ Barnabus is sporting Elven ears, but whatever. We rely on face cards to demonstrate the specific race and appearance.
Now, we’re calling a bit of a miniature selection audible here because we originally planned to use the Butler STLs by Cast n Play. However, those 3D prints are still in the paint queue, and we’ve sorta fallen in love with the ones featured today.
Our poor servants have been through a lot. They were thrown into a deep, dark jail cell after confronting the Night Hag on her dastardly deeds. To protect his twin sister, Barnabus took the brunt of the physical abuse, and now he walks with a bit of limp. He also looks much older than he actually is. Meanwhile, Stella was fearless through it all and refused to bend the knee.
Now, these floors aren’t going to clean themselves, so…back to work! 😉
