Nobody Saw Those Trees Coming

Traveling between unconquered dungeons and the adventurers’ bastions is dangerous work, especially if you have to traverse through a spooky forest. Hope you roll better on your perception checks than these poor souls.

You know that cheesy line from the television show Big Brother: Expect the unexpected? Yes, it’s annoying how many times the host says it in a season, but begrudgingly, DM Ben does love to constantly throw new wild DnD 3D Prints at his players. And we’ve got a free download that does just that! Let’s explore.

The dastardly creative DutchMogul was kind enough to offer this fun forest 3D Print for our printers, and you’re gonna love it. He calls it a WoodKnight, but we call him super unlucky. We printed this sneaky STL in Resin (so it has some heft to it), but you could certainly try it in FDM too.

DM Ben colored this one up as he has such solid Speedpaint choices and schemes when it comes to anything wood these days. He could have used Dark Wood, but that color choice seemed a little too strong. So, instead, he went with Green Stuff World’s Elfwood Brown, which is our new favorite wood color here at 3DRPG Studios. DM Ben also added a nice forest mixture of flock to complete that forest flood blend-in.

We decided to make four of them in all to simulate a woodland search party whose mission went terribly wrong. Talk about a great one-shot TTRPG encounter, right?! DM Ben plans to intersperse these within a larger woodland gameboard that we’ll show off in a future post as our adventurers have to travel from their bastion in The Hight Forest back to Waterdeep.

You can also do that fun trick where you swap these imprisoned swordsmen trees with regular trees. Who doesn’t love the unexpected ol’ miniature or scatter terrain switcheroo? You can see in this pic that these are decently sized when next to a traditional miniature.
