TGIF-holiday-weekend, fellow gamers! We get an extra day of dice rollin’ and paintbrush movin’ this weekend. You gotta be pumped! Let’s give you yet another free set of STLs to consider downloading for your gaming pleasure.

Rats, am I right?! Like, how can you not love these vile vermin in terms of DnD monsters? They carry disease, look yucky, and the tail…don’t get us started on those squiggly things. So, it’s not like anyone leans in to give them a hug.

DM Ben just knew he wanted a mischief of rats in his monster boxes, so he could pull them out for a future encounter…especially if the party heads beneath the Waterdeep streets. Besides, we splurged on the Dwarven Forge sewers many moons ago, so we gotta fill that gameboard up with twitchy troublemakers.
Well, fear not (or maybe just a little) because good ol’ DutchMogul has a swarm of free STLs when it comes to rats. We download these Ratfolk Burrowguard and just love ’em!

There’s so much to love about these wily rodents! The soldiers come in several poses, and even better, they fully occupy a single d20 square. We love, love larger miniatures, so we couldn’t wait to 3D print these troublemakers and get to painting! We intentionally placed them on clear bases, so players could see the dirty terrain beneath them. That grimy effect sorta reinforces the filth factor.
In terms of a 5e DnD statblock, we like this Ratfolk Mercenary build: AC 15, HP 45, Multi-attack: Shortsword +6/1d6+4 or Dart +6/1d4+4.

DM Ben took a shot at painting these particular pests after he got some newfound confidence with the Soul Sister miniatures. These are small, much like those earlier Brite Minis sculpts, but they have very defined paint spots and no crazy microscopic details.
These bastards were made for Slapchop because any missed or tough-to-reach spot just looked dark and dirty, which is these guys’ jam. We’re not completely sold on the cape, but it’ll do for now.

Dutchmogul also did a couple of Ratfolk Pelter sculpts and a Ratfolk Druid Mother design. So, now that we have a confident series of paint steps, we’ll 3D-print these soldier companions and share them with thee in a future post. Besides, if you’re gonna put rats in your TTRPG, you’re going to need a bunch of ’em, right?
Until next time!
