Greetings, fellow dungeon designers! Lots to look forward to for this upcoming gamer weekend. Masters of the Universe is now streaming on Amazon Prime, a bunch of us are gonna go see The Odyssey, and of course, we have plenty of 3D printing and painting jammed in there too! But first, let’s check out some essential TTRPG scatter terrain!

If you’re like us, you hate to waste hobby paint. So, you always have a mittful of scatter terrain pieces within arm’s reach so you can soak up those excess drops during your prime piece progress. There’s also a lot of satisfaction with completing these types of STLs because you can place them in countless encounters. Hence, your hard work feels like it’s going to waste.

Let’s start with this amazing Prisoners sculpt by the amazing Loot Studios team. These poor souls are actually in two sets: Toll Collectors and Bandits of Black Hollow. Dungeon Masters have soft spots for these types of pieces because captors make great storylines.

Novice painter DM Ben winced at coloring this one, but duty called and the team said he had to step up for today’s post. He stuck with simple color choices and a Slapchop base did him right. Of course, these downtraden peasants are gonna be dirty and street-filth-soakers. Now we just have to wonder aloud what these three poor souls did to deserve this. DM Ben is guessing their sneaky thievery finally caught up to them.

Next up, we turn to one of the 3D print building stalwarts in our beloved community – Infinite Dimension Games. We’ve run off so many of their ye olde structures with resounding success on our trusty Prussa FDM printer. While we could easily focus on this amazing Brewery building, it’s the included scatter that caught our eyes.

Check out these frickin’ fab barrel sets! We love the different-sized barrels, the simple bottle touches, and the slick nets draped over the top. Even better, they’re just the right size for our Rogue to hide behind or for our Ranger to fire from for a little added cover.
We went with a few of our favorite wood colors here: ASP Dark Wood, GSW Skeletal Brown, and GSW Walnut Brown. We splashed ’em all with some Citadel Agrax Earthshade wash to get ’em good and weathered. Several coats of ASP Pallid Bone makes for a great net color, and a little FAN Gun Metal for the banding. Perfect.

Lastly, we had a heck of a time sourcing this simple but super crate stack. We thought for sure it was STL Miniatures or Loot Studios, but we couldn’t quite find the specific file. The slickest details are those little breathing holes notched on the side of the crates. How can you not wanna know what’s inside, right?!
DM Ben plans on having his adventurers transport these two sensitive packages on an upcoming side quest. Opening their contents could lead to dire consequences. Curiosity could also eventually consume them, or maybe these shifting boxes inadvertently break open before releasing the chaos inside.
Until next time!
