How about some fun, new scatter terrain pieces to welcome our halfway point of the work week? We’ve got a couple of dandies for ya that will certainly breathe a little more life into two of our homebrewed NPCs’ colorful town shops.

DM Ben has always been adamant about setting the scene and immersing his players. That doesn’t mean every time players enter a shop or meet a new NPC, it has to be a complex gameboard setup. Still, simple scatter terrain planning gets everyone at the table creative juices flowing and encourages more engaging gameplay.

Let’s start with one of our nifty NPCs from our Forgotten Rails Hovertrain setting. Regular readers of Train Tuesday will certainly recognize one of our Lettermen (also known as Mr. Addy Ress). These mighty trains will revolutionize mail delivery, and these new carriers are being pressed into service to expedite shipping times by riding the rails with key packages and critical cargo.

Then we realized we didn’t really have any cool Post Office scatter terrain, so to the 3D printers we went! We tapped into the same fun Post Office set by STL Miniatures as the mail carrier miniature above. This cool counter immediately reminds the players where they are in town.
Resident painter Kimmy Utah was the colorist here, and how she put so many vibrant colors into so many tiny details, we’ll never know. We just love this new DnD terrain, though!

The other piece we 3D-printed is for one of our absolutely favorite non-player-characters: good ol’ Keanu Leaves, Waterdeep’s premiere herbalist this side of the High Forest. Our retired surfer dude is the sole proprietor of “One, Two, Tree” – a popular potion and apothecary shop. DM Ben wants this particular NPC to be more involved in the campaign, so he was eager to add a few more scatter pieces to his establishment.

That’s where this awesome mushroom table comes in! This Botanic Display is by Loot Studios and comes from their frickin’ fantastic Cursed Collector’s Curiosities set! Kimmy Utah grabbed a paintbrush to finish this TTRPG piece, and we adore her color selections here. You can almost feel all the tiny bugs crawling around within this fungi display.
DM Ben thinks this new scatter fits perfectly with the potion display above and is sure to nudge the players into asking what powerful poultices might be available to purchase! Yes, this STL would also work for our Collector Villain, but we think it’s more fitting in Keanu’s shop.
Until next time!
