Today, we’re sharing a 3D-printed wandering monster of the most sneaking kind! Better get those ears up and eyes open before you get shrubbed!
Last time, we introduced a turf-protecting plant, but this time, we’re putting all eyes on the party because nobody likes to be watched, especially a group of adventurers that are typically up to no good!
The premise here is DM Ben wants to introduce a little paranoia to the group. They’re a six-member party at level four and have had plenty of time to tick others’ offers and warrant someone spying on them (like Merv the Swerve, the greatest swordsman in all of Water Deep). Certainly, your game group shares similar vibes. If not, you could use this Wandering Monster table result to introduce a new lurker to the mix.
Thankfully, mz4250 created the absolute perfect STL for this scenario, thanks to his awesome Awakened Shrubs series. Resident painter Kimmy Utah took the coloring from there – the pants are just perfect!
We see this as one of our non-combat encounters so the intention here is just to spill the beans that the group is being watched! And so now that begs the question as to why?!

In terms of the encounter mechanics here, DM Ben plans to have our sneaky shrub ultimately be spotted as a considerable difference. He’ll be at a far enough distance that the group won’t be able to catch him (just because he has such a headstart), but you certainly could do a full-fledged encounter there. DM Ben just wants to tease it and add some nervousness to the group.
Now, all we need to do is, once again, update our Wilderness Trek Wandering Monster Table!
