The Ice Man Look-eth

Miniature Monday is getting closer to that magical drumstick grab, but first things first – we’ve got a brand new NPC in Waterdeep, and we think our wise jeweler will be a perfect addition to your town setting. Let’s adjust our spectacles and zoom in for a closer look!

Today’s DnD mini comes from STL Miniatures and their slick Lender Set. It includes two colorful miniatures and several scatter terrain pieces that will let you quickly set the scene for your overly curious players. After all, we’re potentially talking big bucks for their rare treasures, so everyone around the table is undoubtedly leaning in to hear what their latest horde will net them.

Here’s resident painter Kimmy Utah’s take on our masterful jeweler! This STL has a mountain of tiny details, so we didn’t envy her on this one: the fancy shoes, decorative apron, mysterious gem, and, of course, those fancy zoomy spectacles. The final NPC miniature tugs at our greedy heartstrings.

While preparing potential NPC encounters well in advance is ideal, DM Ben runs multiple campaigns (a work game and a fam game), so he’s usually under the gun for anything he wants to add to the next couple of sessions.

In this case, we’re getting closer and closer to the inaugural ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Forgotten Rails Hovertrain Line. Regular readers know that this floating railroad runs on a mineral called Corederite Glass. That fuel component is found (literally) on traveling Stone Scar Elementals or via larger deposits within mountainous geological areas.

Consequently, we envision numerous mining expeditions and encounters. One can expect to find all sorts of different gems along the way, and our adventurers will be looking to turn them in for profit. That means they need a town jeweler to carefully examine and assess their fabulous finds for the best price possible.

Our next step is to flush out the core NPC parameters and get this detail monger ready for action!
