Greetings, fellow Tomb Raiders! We’re continuing our ongoing Egyptian series by switching to some more desert scatter pieces and terrain to gussy up your sandy gameboard even more! Let’s gooooo!

We’re really digging (pun intended) alternating between desert miniatures and terrain from week to week, as this posting schedule keeps us honest and ensures we don’t inadvertently overproduce in any given category. Plus, it breaks up the occasional monotony by ensuring we keep putting the “f” in “fun.”

Let’s start with a tomb staple: the sarcophagus. Most Egyptian makers include these in their sets, so we didn’t take the time to source such generic DnD scatter terrain pieces. It would be like us trying to source a dungeon wall. Still, very important that you have a few of these on hand. Besides, they make for the perfect tomb trap. 😉
It’s worth noting that Aether Studios actually offers two free starter Egyptian sets, so be sure to give these a try on your 3D printer: Phreebies and Secret Pyramid Entrance. They’re both excellent starting points. We love these two starting sets, and they came out especially swell in FDM format! If you need a place to start, focus on these sets first.

To keep those good decorating vibes moving, let’s pivot to a free download from good ol’ Dutchmogul. This mysterious Cyclopean Pillar column is from his nifty Delving Decor series. Naturally, we 3D-printed a set of four, as these types of cryptic columns can really anchor a TTRPG room layout.

DM Ben utilized our core sandy paint scheme and then used trusty Green Stuff World Tropical Turquoise to drybrush over the hieroglyphics. When you’re not using these sturdy columns in a larger tomb room, you can also line a narrow hallway and then watch your players nervously walk down it, all the while praying they don’t set off any trigger plate dart traps.

And lastly, we’ve got another slick Aether Studios Pharaoh tile. This imposing altar is from their wicked Middle Kingdom set. During our print pitch meetings, we realized we had not featured a tomb tile in a while. We need to be more cognizant of this terrain type moving forward to ensure you have plenty of suggested 3D print options.

Nothing crazy on this tile paint scheme either. Besides a little FAN Greedy Gold and FAN True Copper, we love to go over the markings with Pokorny Paints Deep Lava. That darker red color is the perfect drybrush color for giving those tomb markings that aged look! Pretty cool, right?!
Until next time!
