Tomb Thursday P56: Workin’ It

Greetings, fellow sun shaders! We’ve got a couple of fun miniatures that we think blend perfectly into your desert campaign setting. With that said, let’s meet today’s latest NPCs!

First, it’s time to join hands and embrace us to help heal our darkest addiction. That’s right. Our name is 3DRPG, and we’re…we’re NPC-aholics. “Hiiiiiiiiiii 3DRPG.”

This particular STL sourcing story is a hoot, y’all. After a ton of searching today, we realized our first mini is indeed by Miniatures Craze. This Astronomer is from their Back to Egypt – Seth’s Curse Kickstarter. We admire this creator’s sculpting talent, but you have to tread carefully when painting the completed 3D prints because the final miniatures can be fragile. We’ve printed several amazing minis from this KS, and they turned out beautifully. You just have to remove the supports patiently.

Case in point. This is the final miniature that resident painter Kimmy Utah colored for us. See how the item in each hand broke off? At first, we thought this robed figure was simply holding a dagger in his right hand and nothing in his offhand. After an hour-plus of searching our MMF library, DM Ben realized it was the damaged Astronomer.

This is why we like to salvage minis. Instead of this resin print going in a landfill, Kimmy Utah painted him like a sneaky spy or someone with some very important information. Looks like…victory.

Our second featured mini is this hard-workin’ stone hauler by STL Miniatures. This fantastic 3D print is from their super Stone Carver Set. We knew this one was a lock for our Egyptian gameboard the second we saw the set preview.

Kimmy Utah grabbed a brush for this sun-scorched muscle man, too. Her color choices brilliantly highlight all the model details here. The manacles on the ankles, the classic white Egyptian garb, the darker skin tone, etc. We typically select a top five whenever Kimmy’s latest box arrives in the mail, and this guy was a unanimous pick.
