We’ve got a brand new DnD NPC for our ever-growing Forgotten Rails campaign setting! Let’s meet the man and miniature behind the map!
Usually, a DM pulls NPCs from the module they’re all playing, but The Forgotten Rails is an ongoing campaign setting, so we let our STL miniature discoveries drive our character creation. Meaning, if we see the perfect mini, we then devise a way to incorporate it into the game!
And that’s precisely what happened here. We purchased the mighty Construction Set by STL Miniatures last Christmas and proceeded to print out nearly the entire set on our resin 3D printer. We were rifling through our completed RPG prints the other day, and this mind-mulling miniature lept out at us!
Colored by resident painter Kimmy Utah. He just looks like such a smart cookie whose mind is always racing, doesn’t he?! We love how she put so much personality into this DnD miniature. This 3D print definitely conveys a prim and proper attitude for our newest NPC.
Part of his eyeglasses broke away during support removal, but we’ll say he wears an old monocle to read all that tiny print. 😉
So, say hello to Artie Plotter, who goes by the popular nickname “Artie the Carty.” His masterful mapping mind is responsible for charting the railway’s tumultuous hovertrain routes. As Waterdeep’s resident cartographer, he’s under immense pressure to expand The Forgotten Rails’ footprint throughout the Realm. He’s super cranky and possesses terrible people skills.
Artie the Cartie hides behind closed doors for months at a time, thinking of every possible new route for its four largest hovertrain engines. He’s easily spotted due to his fancy attire and numerous architectural plans hunched under one arm everywhere he goes.
Mr. Plotter meets regularly with the 3M cofounders team. However, Artie and Omin Dran do not get along; he always wants mathematics to prevail, and Omin only cares about the hovertrain’s precarious budget. Cartographers don’t like being told what to do, so these two butt heads often.
So there you have it. These maps can’t draw themselves! Leave it to Artie the Cartie to bring The Forgotten Rails to your doorstep!
