Last week, we debuted the Construct Hauler Hovertrain car, so we thought we would go a more traditional route and show you the more conventional Forgotten Rails “Amazon-style” crates, boxes, and packages hauler. Let’s unpack our newest completed train car!
The Sword Coast is about to explode in terms of efficiency, as The Forgotten Rails can quickly transport large quantities of critical supplies to faraway places along its new routes. Naturally, many will be skeptical about this latest transportation resource, so horse and wagon transport won’t go anywhere anytime soon.
Aether Studios has a whole industrial set (called Yardworks Industrial) that gives you all sorts of fun freight options for your DnD campaign. These STLs got a lot of mileage out of our printer because, frankly, the tiles are just irresistible. We have several more freight car versions to show you in the coming months!
Let’s start again with a slick overhead shot to showcase this cargo Hovertrain car in all its glory. Aether Studios even includes the cargo as separate scatter terrain STLs, so if you want, you can make an empty car and add those individual box clusters as you deem fit.
Once again, we leave the opposite sides clear so our party of six and some bad guys will fit in the car for an upcoming encounter. Single-file encounters are pretty dull, and we like to use ’em in rarer instances. Having minis and monsters be 2×2 will still make it feel like they’re fighting in a tighter space.
We’ve settled on two core colors for our exteriors: a dark red and then this darker green (both Pokorny Paint colors). Since this is a mighty industrial-style car, we just do splashes of the green and then slip in splashes of The Army Painter Metallic Speedpaints for accents.
For the doors, we’ve just fallen in love with their double-door STLs. Since this Hovertrain car’s contents are typical garden variety packages, including bulky wood crates, we like this wooden door. Aether’s doors are all modular, though, so you could easily swap them for a metal version.
Look at our little ol’ engine-that-could just grow and grow. Feels good, man. Plus, this new DnD train car is ripe for a Hovertrain heist encounter, and we can’t wait to write that up for everyone!
Until next time!
