This weekly installment of Train Tuesday does a little housekeeping to ensure our Hovertrains are running smoothly for The Forgotten Rails.
We teased a slick piece of Hovertrain scatter terrain last week when we showed off our fabulous new modular platforms by Aether Studios. So, let’s start by sharing that completed resin piece.
Quick recap: We wanted to simplify our Hovertrain stations so that it didn’t become a big ordeal for scene changes on the game table. So, we printed out some platforms (including a second set of tiles for more flexibility). Then, we realized that we hadn’t flushed out the ticketing system. #doh
Waterdeep’s Omin Dran loooooves profit, so a ticket commerce (and taxes) system is critical to the life of the rails.
No problem. We’ll keep it simple:
Then, we can expand on this as we build new encounters.
Our ticket booth will be an enclosed smaller structure with a Construct inside to help our Hovertrain travelers get on board. For our 3D print, we tapped STL Miniatures and their Carnival set for our crucial DnD scatter terrain piece.
Resident painter Kimmy Utah is ticket taker number one as she happily accepted this color challenge. A nice wood theme interspersed with vibrant reds and golds was just what our adorable little ol’ booth ordered.
Players will only see a couple of blue eyes glowing behind the cage, a telltale sign that there’s a Forgotten Rails Construct back there.
Now, any Hovertrain stop would simply contain a train car or two, some platform tiles, and our lovely new ticket booth. So easy! That’s a setup DM Ben can stand behind!
Next week, we’ll share a new prototype Construct that comes directly from Aether Studios’ excellent Golem car!
