Greetings, fellow Hovertrain passengers. We’ve got some lovely mechs to keep you entertained on your journey to your final destination today. In a moment, a “person” will be along to take your drink order.

One of our featured 3D prints will be something to slip into, while the other will be as loyal as they come. Hovertrains have ushered in a whole new frontier of tech, and it’s important to us that this homebrewed Forgotten Rails setting has plenty of supporting actors.

We wanted to showcase a Constructs-ish animal today, further enhancing our robotic choices for DM Ben’s future storylines. We’re also going to share our first mech suit, which will be especially cool because until now, we hadn’t really previously thought about incorporating this Iron-Man-style genre into our DnD campaign. Like, of course, we need to have some mechs that our adventurers can climb inside of to make a battle or mission much more interesting.

Our first fun 3D print is by Loot Studios and is called Skipper Mech Suit. It’s a miniature option for a character called Professor Snap, a Kobold Artificer. He made his own set of mechanized armor, and we just love it! This TTRPG miniature is from their Orcs of Butcherhold set. We almost missed him at first because he is a Community Hero.

Sunrise Sven was our paint pro on this one, as the STL has several small details that our older eyes could never tackle well. We love the armor pigment choice and the selected Kobold colors. We envision this one as a scientist for The Forgotten Rails, who ultimately went rogue and is now an outlaw.
We opted not to include the original base for this miniature, which we often do unless the base is physically part of the 3D print. The reason is that we frequently resize the minis, and consequently, the bases rarely come out as needed. Plus, we had fun flocking this one up.

Our next featured 3D print is by a creator we actually didn’t know much about, as this particular STL was initially purchased as a set and never downloaded. It was only at press time that we got to learn about MrHers2 and this free download Robo Dog Companion. That’s the best thing about discovering new 3D print artisans – you get exposed to more of their killer work. We downloaded several more models from him today.

When we met Sunrise Sven online, he was selling a few cool collections: a set of statues (like this robo dog) and all his Lord of the Rings miniatures (which we can’t wait to show you). We were going to paint this one further, but upon further review, we think the lighter gray paint job is really cool and decided not to mess with a good thing.

Lastly, we wanted to share the reverse side of these miniatures, which contains notable slick details. We like the idea of our mad Kobold scientist becoming an outlaw, but we’re a little unsure about this gear-filled pup. At first, we considered making him a companion to one of The Forgotten Rails founders, or even a gift to Oman Dran. Instead, we’re actually going to have this mechanical hound be one of our Kobold’s mad inventions.
Until next time!
