Let’s keep our current complimentary hover vehicles theme humming along with another gnome tinkerer invention!
Hovertrains require a lot of heavy bits and bobs to keep running, while still building new train cars and mighty engines! And don’t even get us started on the constant repairs! Therefore, the 3M collective decided to expand the technology to ensure their Hovertrains continue to operate 24/7. The pickup truck era is officially here!
For our latest mechanized vehicle, we’re utilizing this Cargo Hover Truck by EC3D Designs. This rough and tough hauler is from their swell Novus Landing Kickstarter. The detail-packed STL is support-free and 3D-printed wonderfully in FDM. You’re just gonna love adding this new DnD scatter terrain piece to your TTRPG library.
DM Ben “volunteered” and picked up a brush to color it up! All our vehicles are meant to come off as lumbering, filthy vehicles because their hover engines create such a mighty cloud of dirt. So, we always circle back and add a wash to the final paint scheme.
We printed a couple of these Cargo Haulers as we instantly thought of a convoy raid scenario! Another encounter type could be a cool chase scene where the players attempt to hotwire a vehicle and get pursued by The Forgotten Rails’ security forces. 3D prints that quickly inspire future storylines are the best!
We also loved the spacious flatbed feature of the model, as it opens up a whole new range of possibilities. The back is spacious enough to fit multiple miniatures for a tense moving battle. Dungeon Masters can also place precious cargo or Corederite mineral deposits on it, which opens up even more storytelling possibilities.
Here’s how DM Ben colored this one up:
Army Painter’s Camo Cloak Speedpaint was a new color for us. It’s fantastic and would make for a great Ranger cape.
Pretty fun, right?! Aether Studios Hovertrains are insanely fun, but we gotta populate our DnD world with all sorts of offshoot contraptions to keep the players guessing. Besides, doesn’t everyone wanna drive one of these beauties through The High Forest?
Until next time!
