We’ve got yet another heartstrings scatter terrain post today as we salute a few more 3D prints that are sure to liven up your ongoing DnD game! Roll for stealth!
DM Ben adores TTRPG pieces that nudge players and dungeon masters to use better tactics on the game table. We have one scatter terrain piece that anyone can use stealthily to avoid combat or provide cover during combat. Talk about good livin’!
STL Miniatures is definitely picking up what we’re printing down as they included these fun-loving farm pieces in their fantastic Fantasy Props I set. We’ve lost count of how many of these super STLs we’ve sliced, which certainly is a sign of a great set. We even found a few more of these gems to 3D print just researching this article.
DM Ben was down with painting this one, as he’s done a few haystacks in the past and wanted to improve the color scheme because we all know that practicing the craft is half the battle.
And then you simply keep going back over it with any or all the steps again until you achieve the right color tone.
We especially dig this STL because it’s hollow on the inside, allowing you to hide a miniature or treasure underneath it. Like, what DM wouldn’t love to see more scatter designs like this?! We realized at press time that we forgot to color the inside so we’ll circle back and fix that on the next batch paint job.
This one defaults to a 2×2 d20 square size, but you can certainly make it larger or smaller based on your specific encounter needs. You can also add this one to a variety of RPG scenes, including a traditional farm, a wide-open field, or even within a light forest. Versatile terrain pieces are always high on our 3D-print list!
We also wanted to briefly showcase this nifty little Terminal 3D print by EC3D Designs. This spare-parts monstrosity is from their awesome Ghost City Kickstarter and is perfect for a sci-fi setting or the gnome tinkerer in your life. We’ve pulled other steampunk STLs from this set for our beloved Forgotten Rails Train Tuesday series.
DM Ben was the colorist once again and just winged it, which is easier to do thanks to the Army Painter Speedpaint Metallics set. We plan to create a comprehensive Hovertrain car yard where all the different trains are built and repaired, so this type of machine-bit scatter will mesh well with that theme.
We included one of our Hovertrain Driver Constructs so you can get a better idea of the size of this sci-fi scatter terrain. If trains aren’t your jam, though, you could easily swap our tireless robot with an energetic and overachieving gnome tinkerer! This basically covers a 3×2 d20-square area, which is just right for some colorful room dressing.
Until next time!
