Ohhhhhh boy – do we have a treat for you today! We’re going with a buccaneer’s best friend because say it loud and proud with us now, “Everything is better with pirates!”
Once again our printer arm reached down deep into EC3D Design’s Depths of Savage Atoll set to bring you one of our absolute favorite STLs!
But guys…before we go further…come on, you gotta grab this late pledge – $40 for an irresistible set of minis and scatter terrain (with pretty much no need for any supports) is an absolute steal. And 3DRPG is gonna keep teasing you with printed and painted models from this set until you go and get it! 😉
So here he is in all his plume-ing glory: the perched parrot! Isn’t he just the cutest darn thing your eyepatched face has ever seen? We were a bit nervous that we would accidentally break his thin perch pole but we just ensure a little extra TLC is given whenever one of us is handling this mini.
Now DM Ben has older eyes and like many of you, there could be a little how-on-earth-would-i-paint-this-little-model angst. Just remember, it’s never a bad thing to occasionally utilize a pro painter’s services via your local game shop, game group buddy, or even remote services like Fiverr. Or, you just have to challenge yourself and paint him up…and we know you can do it!
So now this magnificent mini got us to thinkin’…how might this feathered friend fit into our own DnD game? Welp, bonus_action on Instagram (a must-follow btw) came up with this Cloak of the Scarlet Macaw wondrous item! Or, you can check out WalockHomeBrew‘s cool Parot (and monkey) class stats. Our absolute fav though is the Captain’s Mechanical Parrot by Catilus on Patreon.
Or, here’s a simple scenario that DM Ben might try in his game groups: the characters need a combination to the ship pirate’s safe. And every time the captain opens that protected pirate’s booty chest, he inadvertently mumbles the lock combination aloud. Well, the only one who ever hears that coveted code is his trusty parrot, Polly. Alas, the party must now find a way to not only get to that parrot alone but also get Polly to say the secret lock combination back to them! Let the calamity begin!
Parrots in your game can be pretty fun though, right? So get ’em in there a-sap!
