The Ol’ Heave-Ho

Greetings, fellow Resin Rogues! October is zooming by, but hopefully your gaming sessions aren’t. We 3D-printed the perfect scatter terrain piece to pair with one of our favorite homebrewed NPCs. Let’s go!

Scatter terrain is a mixed bag sometimes. We’ll 3D-print anything we can get our hands on, but then it can take a while to find the right matching scenario. For today’s DnD blog post, the second we saw the STL, we knew this one had a place in our ongoing TTRPG campaign.

First, a quick recap: The group learns through the rumor mill about a peculiar farmer on the outskirts of Waterdeep. This oddball gnome goes by ol’ Huckle Riverstone, and he mysteriously produces topsoil others would literally die for.

Huckle’s farm is constantly being raided by oversized vermin who want to devour his award-winning crops, and violent raiders looking to steal his miracle soil. Well, enough is enough! He’s hunkering down and bringing in the big guns to repel larger assaults.

Despite his new army of pumpkins that ain’t pumpkins, Riverstone wants heavier firepower to take on larger groups of farm insurgents. That’s where this epic Pumpkin Launcher by Cast n Play enters the frame. This organic artillery is from their fun Halfling Chronicles set.

This pumpkin pumper is nice and bulky, so DM Ben volunteered to color this one up over his vacation last week.

• Prime Flat Black | Slapchop Base.
• Wood: GSW Sepia Vetus + Dark Wash.
• Metal Bits: ASP Enchanted Steel.
• Leather Straps: ASP Hardened Leather.
• Net: ASP Holy White + Soft Tone Wash.
• Pumpkin: Same scheme as earlier.

He forgot to put ASP Enchanted Steel on the wheel rims, but that’s an easy correction. Also, after painting the pumpkin, it was still a little too dark, so he did a quick drybrush dusting of FAN Lava Orange to get the shade we wanted.

For DnD 5e stats, we used Google, which summarized several great siege-weapon articles and gave us the direction we needed. DM Ben tweaked the numbers a bit more since this is a makeshift device.

• AC 15 | HP 80
• Range: 200/400 ft (can’t hit anything within 60 ft)
• Attack: +7
• Damage: 5d10+4 bludgeoning. DC 14 save for half.
• Load: takes two actions.
• Aim: takes two actions.
• Fire: takes one action.

DM Ben hopes the group loves this device so much that they ask Huckle to make one for their own Bastion, especially if the party helps him defend his farm from an impending attack.

Until next time!
