Greetings, fellow mail-getters. We’re circling back on a beloved NPC we previously generated for The Forgotten Rails and dressing up Waterdeep’s largest post office. Get in line and take a number!

Boy howdy, we’re really enjoying building out this Hovertrain campaign setting. Beyond our stunning Hovertrain cars by good ol’ Aether Studios, we’re also creating engaging, new NPCs and finding soothing scatter to immerse our players in the scene.

DM Ben named anyone working for the Water Deep Post Office a Letterman. Many of us have fond memories of watching Late Night, so we thought it would be so darn cool to pay homage to David Letterman and all the laughs he brought us night after night.

From there, we decided to add a scatter terrain piece, as he wanted an eventual encounter inside the official government building. STL Miniatures made an entire amazing mail set, and we thought the service counter piece was so darn cool. Then we realized we never showed off the parcel-sorting scatter terrain, which you’ll certainly agree is frickin’ cool.

Resident painter Kimmy Utah colored all our post office pieces here. We just love the variety of colors she tapped into and how realistic everything turned out. Don’t you just want to reach into that shelf and see if one of those mysterious parcels is addressed to you?

We also added this additional postal clerk, mostly because of how Kimmy painted him up. We just love that navy blue-and-white combo. MyMiniFactory.com is having some content loading issues today, so we couldn’t tell exactly who the miniature maker is or which set he’s from. Still, we think it’s by STL Miniatures or Loot Studios. Oh, and that fur on his arm is just something an odd customer passed him to pack and ship.

Also, in our original service counter piece, it has this nifty cut-off slot where you can place a mini to make it look like he’s servicing the next person in line. We also wanted to give you another angle to soak in.

We’re going to show you two shots of all the pieces combined. First, a side-by-side view and one possible scatter terrain arrangement that sorta looks like you’re walking up to the bustling counter for service and getting something onto the very next Hovertrain mail car.

Then we put the sorting shelf directly behind the counter, which gave our subtle post office setup some nice depth. DM Ben has several thoughts for a one-shot encounter:
And that was just off the cuff. We’ll certainly think of more DnD scenarios along the way.
Until next time!
