We are having an absolute blast hunting, 3D-printing, painting, and creating new Constructs for The Forgotten Rails — so much so that we keep coming up with more arcane androids to sprinkle into this new RPG railroad setting.
This new transportation system is meant to run flawlessly within the Realm. It needs numerous efficient workers to get everyone from Point A to Point B. Filling your campaign with all these colorful miniatures gives it more personality and diverse encounter opportunities. Plus, come on…who doesn’t love droids?
Previously, we discussed the critical arcane fuel created by Rails’ co-founder, Leland Farce. Corederite Glass is a rock mineral that falls from a Stone Scar Elemental. The stone by itself is worthless. However, when the blue-ish, purple-ish rock is combined with Farce’s brilliant magic, it creates a powerful energy strong enough to power any Hovertrain.
Our next secondary construct is needed because this Corederite Glass stone material is quite heavy, and The Forgotten Rails needs a lot of it. So, engineer co-founder Collis Strutt developed some androids called “The Movers,” whose sole job is to gather larger fallen stones and load them into transport vehicles for processing as quickly as possible.
You’ll notice two versions here. The original default print size was a bit small and only filled a single d20 square. DM Ben wanted The Movers to be a bit more menacing, so he bumped the size to 2×2 d20 squares. Nothing wasted as the smaller machine will be for smaller stones and the bigger version for larger mineral moving.
These droids do not possess attack capabilities and rely on their sheer strength and power to shake off disrupters. Still, we think an encounter where the party tries to steal some of these mechs for a ride would be a hoot.
Much like our ranged Constable protectors, the dwarven appearance is all show. Paranoia runs rampant in Waterdeep’s population that these mysterious androids will take over the world, so Omin Dran uses some smoke and mirror disguises to make it look like everything is warm and fuzzy.
Still, all Constructs are identifiable by a blue, red, or yellow light (e.g., their “on” button), so everyone can still tell these machine marvels are the property of The Forgotten Rails with the directive to protect and serve.
This fab Dwarfclan Stonethrower miniature was a free download by the brilliant Dutchmogul. Again, its default scale is 18mm, so if you want it to be more like ours here, remember to up the size during slicing.
Dutchmogul has several cool constructs in his free library, and we’re eager to print more!
Our new Constructs are tailored to our Hovertrain environment, but you can certainly develop your own story hooks to insert these mighty mechanicals into your local game(s). The possibilities are endless.
Until next time!
