Avast, Matey! You survived the first full work week of 2025, so you deserve a pirate’s booty today! We’ve got two new members of the Train Raiders crew, and they’re baaaaaad news. Put up your dukes and read on!
Here we go with our fifth and sixth scoundrels of the menacing Train Raiders crew! Tusk the Trustful (treasurer), Taters McGee (cook), Hank Morgan (Ale Meister), and Snap Jaw (Foot Soldier) are already on board. This cringe-worthy crew needs some more heavy hitters and ruthlessness!
We’re returning to EC3D Designs, and their Depths of the Savage Atoll set for all the right reasons! Their supportless pirate prints are just too good to ignore. We hope to feature the entire set by the time these Train Raiders are ready for pillage and plundering.
We have some humorous anecdotes about this particular 3D pirate print. The first chuckle is that we inadvertently included two of the same miniatures when we originally mailed them to resident painter Kimmy Utah. Thankfully, we have a standing agreement that any duplicate gets an alternate paint job to help us quickly identify Monster 1 vs Monster 2 on the game table. We have a solution to this oopsie later on in the post.
Secondly, we just realized that we accidentally broke off their swords! Like we just noticed it here at press time! No problem. One could easily say the sword is tucked behind on the side, and an ax is hanging from their belt on the other side.
Thankfully, we never take our 3D prints that seriously. If a detail snaps off or misprints, we’re rarely annoyed. Dems da breaks (as it were), right?! These imperfections can barely be seen via the Arm’s Length rule, and it’s not like we’re entering our stuff in any contests. Lighthearted gaming is our jam here at 3DRPG Studios.
So, let’s drop some details on these two fellas and get them ready for action!
Larry and Gary are identical twins and two of the most evil pirates you’ll wish you’d never encountered. They thirst for blood and the next fight. The Brothers Grimm joined this crew simply to reign terror down on others.
DM Ben just loooooves the detail on these STLs, with them taking a bruiser breather on the barrels as the master touch! These wooden bases are perfect – it feels like they’re on a ship’s deck, right?
One last nugget is that our new Pirate Crew will get some double duty by either land (The Forgotten Rails) or sea (ship). DM Ben recently painted up this Caesar Cetacean pirate ship by Aether Studios over the holiday break and is just putting on some finishing touches.
So, we’re really excited to launch a new Ship series in the coming months because, say it with us now, “Everything is better with pirates!”
Until next time!
