Train Tuesday P73: Print and Carry

Let’s get back to our Hovertrain roots, as it were, and showcase yet another marvelous train car by the talented crew at Aether Studios!

What’s this? A new Hovertrain car to reveal?! We haven’t showcased a new one since the Rub-a-Dub-Dub bath car, so we felt we were overdue.

For this week’s featured Forgotten Rails 3D-print, we turned to the value-stuffed Onasan Line by Aether Studios. This set comes with numerous colorful Hovertrain car options, including the Livestock car, Golem Repair car, and a new engine, which we hope to showcase soon.

The carriage car is a steel-plated beauty that’s assembled from multiple pieces due to its impressive length. It’s just a mighty beast in all the right ways. We always clamp and glue our pieces (rather than using Dragonbite clips) so everything is nice and snug.

DM Ben grabbed a brush over the Easter holiday weekend and colored this one up. We stuck with our usual heavy metal theme but wanted to incorporate more steel and copper color accents into this STL’s endless details.

What’s especially interesting about this lengthy carriage car is its open roof. This open-air Hovertrain car could lead to some intense combat, including some heroing Athletics and Acrobatics checks. We love that we can have side-by-side fighting and drop in a 2×2 d20 square monster with ease.

That leaves us with the elephant in the room – what sort of scenarios could this Carriage Car entail?

• Larger, open-air cargo.
• Oversized Corederite mining samples.
• A visible guard garrison to deter pirate attacks.
• Bulky animal transport (seriously…like maybe war elephants).

And those are just off the cuff. Plenty of possibilities here for menacing Dungeon Masters!
