There has been a lot of positive feedback on this Coloring Construct series for The Forgotten Rails, so we’ll keep this paint party going with a third installment! We hope some of you will download these (usually free models) and join the fun!
Maybe we’ll share a particular Army Painter Speedpaint or Citadel Contrast paint color you never realized would work so well on a specific portion of a miniature or scatter terrain piece. Likewise, if you have a better color choice than what novice painter DM Ben selected, we would love to hear your suggestion on our Facebook or Instagram channels.
Let’s jump right in with our first colored STL – The Fixer. This model is by EC3D Designs and is from their Bolts and Brimstone Kickstarter. It’s one of the rare non-Constructs of the bunch, but these Orcs pledge a lifetime of service to The Forgotten Rails.
Its paint steps are as follows:
There are lots of simple, quick dabs of color to make this mini pop a bit, but all these different steps go fast.
Next is the Animated Armor by Schlossbauer, which serves as the Constructs’ Captain of the Guard. It’s the smartest programmed android of the bunch and often tells both the Protector and Secondary robots what to do.
Its paint steps are as follows:
We especially like how the Wash toned everything down a bit and made this guy look more rugged and in the thick of things.
Finally, there’s the Eye-Baller observation droid. This slick Spiderball Clockwork robot is by Mechatronist. It just barely rests on a clear base but looks creepy as all get-out.
Its paint steps are as follows:
A darker Army Painter Speedpaint Talos Bronze may look better here, so we’re pondering an alternate version.
All three are very doable, right? Half the battle is knowing what paint pot to use for each section of a particular model, so you can have these same miniatures in your game in no time!
