One could say today’s post could simply be because of the maker’s truly brilliant name, Dungeons & Dragons & Dadskies, and they would be right.
We bumped into their booth at the 2023 Game On Expo in Phoenix. DM Ben always likes to go to a Con on day one and scour the vendor hall as fast as he can. Why you ask? Well, there are often one-of-a-kind items and if you wait til day 2 (e.g. typically Saturday), a lot of those special finds will be stolen right out from under you.
We were so impressed with Randy but he turned out to ultimately be a man of mystery! He’s got no website, no social media channels…nothin’. The Gmail address is handy and we’ll certainly drop him a quick note to see if we can provide a better plug but it wasn’t for a lack of sleuthing. What made things trickier is there is a “Dungeons and Daddies” podcast and that sorta dominates the search results.
Anywho, let’s get to today’s featured miniatures! These two twisted devils immediately caught DM Ben’s eye. He always like miniatures that don’t always appear to be what they seem. This impoverished old lady has her entire world on her back and she seems innocent enough. And from a spyglass distance, the other fella just looks like a man of the cloth, right?
It’s really tough to tell from the front our slow-movin’ granny is all bite as her slimy tentacles are visible only from the back. Our bald friend is a little more obvious but in this case, DM Ben would do a mini swap on the table when the timing was just right. So, either method works just fine but if the fig’s details are really subtle, then you get to have a little more surprise-round fun.
So what is their infliction? Was their village overrun by Zombies? Is this some sort of unstoppable disease? Did a wizard poison this town’s water source as punishment for undone deeds? Is this the work of an evil curse? Or, did a deranged scientist decide to make his own servants of the dark?! Either way, your party better crack this case before this plague spreads even further!
