Greetings, fellow weekend diceheads! We’re busy adventurers with a work game on Friday night and then our home game on Saturday. Let’s begin!

DM Ben is rarely cool with doing two sessions on back-to-back days, but with the holidays upon us, when the gaming schedule has a break in the clouds, and everyone commits, you gotta go for it! So we’ll probably give our tuckered dungeon master a breather and skip a post on Monday.
For newer readers, we’re running the same campaign between our office players and our family home game. This was the only way he could commit to run two ongoing DnD games. The home game is just farther behind, and that’s OK because we can apply any lessons learned from the office sessions to the fam (since we have more time to prepare/improve things).

We always like to start a Game Day post by recapping last session’s events. Right now, the group is infiltrating the Night Hag’s cabin in the woods and has located the secret entrance to her underground lair.
We typically play a bit longer on Saturdays so we can accomplish a bit more.

Thankfully, DM Ben still has enough prepped and at the ready inside our glorious Wyrmwood game table.
The group will meet an imprisoned Henndi Jemricks, an undead indentured servant stuck in her Bastion until she is no more. We love the Bastion element from the latest Dungeon Master’s Guide, and we’re using this fun character to bring it to our players.

We also wanted to show off some slick new 2D rubber scatter terrain we recently purchased from the fine folks at Playmats. We caught a glimpse of their wonderful wares while scrolling on Instagram and were instantly hooked (for obvious reasons). Now, these guys are based in Europe, so their web store is probably a bit more internationally friendly. Still, we ordered stuff across the pond all the time. US Customers just need a little patience is all, which everyone should be used to thanks to all those amazing international Kickstarters out there.

The terrain effect that instantly hooked DM Ben was the Ground Fog. There’s just something about walking through a forest or dungeon with that mist clouding one’s visibility. So darn spooky. We also loved the Explosions set since we can use that for our Pirate scenarios and, of course, Wizardly fireballs! The color and printing effects on these products is an A+.

Each set contains three different-sized effects on a sturdy 2mm natural rubber, laser-cut, grippy backing. Again, the overall quality is excellent. Here you can see a forest battle which is taking place on a cold morning. These weather elements are creating pockets of ground fog, which naturally conceals some hungry hyenas from the adventuring party. A few players also use that fog to give themselves an advantage on their stealth rolls. Doesn’t that look fantastic?!

Even better, many DnD players also enjoy other games, so these effects work with Warhammer, Age of Sigmar, The Old World, and Frostgrave. We ultimately picked up the following nifty sets:
We plan to use Playmats’ 2D rubber terrain for spell effects, cannon fire, weather elements, water effects, and natural obstacles. We love getting a ton of mileage out of our TTRPG accessories, so these are a no-brainer, y’all.
Until next time!
