Greetings, fellow train lovers. Fresh off a holiday hobby weekend, we have a couple of new DnD 3D prints that certainly belong in The Forgotten Rails. Let’s take a closer look.

We’ve got two new miniatures today, since DM Ben officially kicked off the Hovertrain era a few game sessions back, and he still needs plenty of new minis and NPC personalities to build new encounters. Memorable miniatures with quirky Rhealm roles and wild traits always liven your DnD campaign.

Today, we’ve got one Construct that only works on highly sensitive train tech, and then we’ve got a second mini who dishes out a one-way sentence for anyone caught robbing a valuable Hovertrain. Two great roles with plenty of future encounter options, right?

Let’s start with The Ultimate Modron by mz4250. This lanky-limbed STL is a free download, and DM Ben instantly knew where he would place it within The Forgotten Rails. Now, we already have our Orc Fixers and Medic Constructs. However, we wanted a unique robot built exclusively to service the powerful Hovertrain engines. Their magic and tech are so complex that 3M only trusts this specific service unit to work on the hulking steel machines.

Rumor has it that there are only a limited number of these special repair bots in service. They’re called HEMI units, which stands for Hover Engine Maintenance Intellects. Their four arms are built to lift tremendous weight or slide into very tight spots. They’re heavily guarded when working on Hovertrain engines, and when a HEMI is not in use, one is stored in engineer Collis Strutt’s personal chambers and the other is with wizard Leland Farce.
DM Ben painted this one and simply utilized Army Painter’s wonderful line of metallics. He used FAN Uniform Grey, ASP Enchanted Steel, FAN True Brass, and ASP Talos Bronze. Then he put down a FAN Grimdark Shadow Wash for a dirty, industrial effect. Apply a clear base, and this unit is ready for duty.

The other fun DnD miniature we wanted to feature today is this rumbling Executioner by Cast n Play. This cutthroat is from their wonderful Rotting Crown set. Omin Dran knows civil unrest greatly affects profitability, so he declared the ultimate punishment for anyone caught robbing one of his beloved Hovertrains – death. He knows that his lumbering trains are disliked by forest-friendly folk while loved by shifty robbers. His only hope is that this severe retribution decree travels fast and dissuades others from compromising his operations.

Novice painter DM Ben was pressed into service to color this one and accepted the task since the STL is nice and bulky (taking up a 2×2 d20 set of squares). He utilized the following paints to get this “It’s a living” fella onto our game table.
For the base, he decided to go with a darker earth effect to add some more doom and gloom to the whole piece.

Here’s a shot of each miniature from the back. HEMI looks so darn good and sorta has that classic Lost in Space vibe going. For our big man with an axe to grind, local Waterdeep residents call him the King’s Razor. Peasants literally bet on whether he can carry out his orders with a single blow (as he has a crazy streak going).
Until next time!
