We know, we know! The turkey hasn’t even officially made it to the table and you guys are already talking about Christmas?! Well, we just want to ensure you have plenty of time to shop!
Not every one of Santa’s elves has a time portal. You need to save those gold pieces and still have plenty of time for our favorite DnD gift ideas to arrive under the tree. Besides, no one likes unwrapping a tracking number, right?! So let’s get to all the 3D RPG-recommended goodies.
_______________________________
Holiday Ramp-up ($17 to $43) | Dice Advent Calendar: If you’re like us, the holidays aren’t just a couple of days or even a week. We take it all in over many, many weeks. So why count it down to the jolly fella with a fun dice Advent calendar by d20Adventure? It’s the gift that just keeps on giving for the dice hound in your house. Even better, you could pass along a monthly dice subscription by D20 Collective with two (or more) fun sets for the multi-gamer household.
_______________________________
Traditional ($15 to $18-ish) | Candles/Stockings/Ornaments: Let’s start with those more traditional items like stockings, ornaments, candles, etc. Etsy is your move here. We found a few favs that are certain to bring forth some RPG cheer including:
Sure, these are as conventional Clark Griswold falling into the tree but who doesn’t love a good ol’ tradition?!
_______________________________
Stocking Stuffer ($10) | Mystery Coin Packs: Don’t forget to slip in a few mystery coin packs from Norse Foundry. Physical money adds a whole new layer to your games and turns a normally blasé financial transaction into a tough coin departure. After all, no player wants to hand over 50 silver pieces when those prized shekels literally have to come out of your own money pile.
_______________________________
Stocking Stuffer ($6.50-ish): Look, we all have an off night when it comes to rolling but sometimes the best way to ease that pain is to remind those dice who is still in charge. DM Ben likes these affordable, fun punishers by MysticPigeonGaming. DM Ben is pondering printing a variant or purchasing these for his work gaming group as a way of saying thanks for all the laughs in 2023. Besides, it beats throwing a frustrated roll out the window, right?
_______________________________
Stocking Stuffer ($12 to $15-ish): RPG men admittingly aren’t the easiest to shop for so imagine our glee when we uncovered the perfect dice tie clip at the 2023 Game on Expo in Phoenix. That particular booth vendor didn’t have an online store but the good news is Etsy is full of fun options. Besides, what better way for the ladies to remind their significant others that a gal needs a fancy night on the town once in a while…wink, wink.
_______________________________
Stocking Stuffer ($3.99 to $6.50-ish): Individual ArmyPainter Speedpaints or Citidal Contrast paints were a eureka moment for us novice painters (and DM Ben) in 2023. These little bottles of miracles also fit snugly in a Santa stocking. And no worries about any gift receipt because as we all know, you can never have enough paint, right?!
_______________________________
Stocking Stuffer ($3.99 to $25-ish): Prepainted WizKids D&D Icons of the Realms or Pathfinder Battles as singles (or a booster pack) were made for RPG stockings everywhere. You can hop over to MiniatureMarket.com or eBay and find just what your resident DM or game table pal needs.
DM Ben actually buys 24 singles and puts them in a larger wall Advent Calendar that has individual boxes for the minis to slip into (which is pretty darn fun for us to open each night in December after a long day of work). We’ll sneak in a future post to better highlight what we mean here.
_______________________________
Under the Tree ($45-ish): Time to give that dull bathroom a touch of DnD with these extra cool soap dispensers by Left Hand Asylum. You might be inclined to make a sudden attack roll which is no easy feat with wet hands but at least your hygiene is up to par.
_______________________________
Under the Tree ($17.99 to $24.99): Printing supplies including one’s favorite filament or rad go-to resin will always crack a you-so-get-me smile. Our filament of choice is Hatchbox Cool Gray. And for resin, we like Anycubic Fast Curing. We’ve re-ordered these so many times that we’ve lost count!
_______________________________
Under the Tree ($36 to $75-ish): DnD players can never have enough dice. The trick is you need a handy way to store and transport them! We have two wonderful options for you! The first is a handcrafted wooden dice box by Pro100Wood that can hold your favorite sets for game night. And the second is Critical Role’s Bailey’s Gray Dice Bag of Hoarding to store your entire collection. DM Ben just picked up the wooden dice boxes (from a Ukraine artisan btw) and his girlfriend got Laura Bailey’s dice bag as a gift last year. So good, you guys!
_______________________________
Under the Tree ($28-ish a month) | Dungeon Crate: We loooooove to get stuff in the mail so Dungeon Crate has been a staple of our mail carrier for many moons now. Each month it’s a mish-mash of D&D-related items including dice, minis, stickers, and all sorts of unique items for the RPGer in all of us. Yes, it’s a little pricey, and yes, not every single item or monthly box is perfect. Nevertheless, it’s a fun activity to huddle around and open together after a tough day at the office. And anything that doesn’t fit your style can just get lovingly passed to a fellow game table player.
_______________________________
Under the Tree ($25 to $65) | Roll & Play Supplements: Roll & Play’s Game Master’s Fantasy Tool Kit or One-Shot Wonders Book. Beautifully written and incredibly handy DnD guides can sometimes be as rare as magic items. You can purchase these fine materials with the utmost confidence. DM Ben flips through his tool kit often and the marvelous One-shot Wonders book is available for purchase now. They also offer a Fantasy Player Kit too! You need, nay, you must get these in your gaming library sooner rather than later.
_______________________________
Under the Tree ($38 to $58-ish): Game mats are so darn fun (and useful). We have two absolute favs here. You can get a super durable and highly useful 5e Player Matte by Total Party Chill. Or, grab an extra durable neoprene game table (or desk) mat by Big Viking Mats. We personally use all these items and couldn’t be more satisfied.
_______________________________
Under the Tree ($3.90 to $15) | Patreon & MyMiniFactory Subscriptions: You might recall back in August that we shared our Top 5 D&D 3D Printing Patreons of 2023, and we think any of these (or ones that didn’t make it come press time) are excellent digital gifts for a loved one. They’re fairly inexpensive and give you a lot of holiday budget leeway. You could gift a single month if those gold pieces runneth low. Or, you could do multiple months as a lasting gift reminder on what a great pal you are. MyMiniFactory works as well but just remember that those cost a $1 or $2 more because of the convenient, all-in-one-place library access.
If you’re curious, here’s DM Ben’s current Patreon list:
We try others out from time to time so this is an ever-changing group but the ones above are staples.
_______________________________
Under the Tree ($15.99) | Calendar of Many Adventures 2024: Boy oh boy, do we love the talented and kind crew over at Loke Battlemats. Their carefully crafted works are just so innovative and fun. They were super kind to send us the 2024 Calendar of Many Adventures earlier this year and it’s a must for Christmas morning! The colorful cal includes 12 5E adventures with a monthly image to match the upcoming journey. Just scan the month’s QR code for its corresponding adventure PDF and any digital maps for VTT. Brilliant!
_______________________________
Under the Tree ($15.99) | Specialty Dice: We touched on dice set subscriptions but don’t forget about specialty dice too! If you have a wee lad in DnD training, pick up this set of jumbo foam dice by Learning Resources. Uncle DM Ben has wrapped this present for a new niece and nephew and they went over like gangbusters.
And for the gamer that has all the traditional dice sets they can handle, pick up some specialty dice. Some of DM Ben’s favorites are hit location dice, random treasure dice, time of day dice, and directional dice. Beaderic Inspiration (a must-follow on Instagram) also has a fun dice guide PDF that you can download that covers some other great dice choices with handy links.

Hopefully, there’s something for everyone in your gaming fam! We’ll try to add a few more in the coming weeks but wanted to ensure you had plenty of time to get those orders in ASAP (and not roll a 1 with a dried-out fruitcake).
