Greetings, fellow swords for hire. Excited to share two new dastardly Hovertrain pirates this week, especially after our recent ship post. Let’s give them a warm greeting…so they don’t kick our butts!

Pirate life isn’t made for the weak. It’s a dangerous gig, and often, sheer muscle wins out. Hence why we have one new bruiser that is the epitome of brawn over brains. And when that doesn’t work, you send in our second 3D-printed min who is all about being sneaky.

Let’s start with this beefy fella by Printable Scenery. He goes by Mr. Knuckles and is from their frickin’ fantastic Pirate Witcher Warband series. There are nine dastardly pirates, and even better, each one comes in one of two awesome poses. We love the STL flexibility because if one is a bit too delicate for your liking, you can just give the other version a try.

Resident painter Kimmy Utah pulled out all the brushstrokes for this tricky 3D-printed miniature as Printable Scenery stuffs its models with all sorts of slick details. This burly pirate lost a little resin on his journey back to AZ, but whatev’s. We love our latest DnD pirate crew member! He is just soaked with personality, and that’s the mark of a great paint job.

Another great TTRPG STL source is Cast n Play. They have several pirate and townfolk sets that you’ll find simply irresistible. We got this fink of a potato cutter from their first townsfolk set, which was a series of smaller subsets. We just skipped the base because it simply wasn’t needed (and we have enough to paint as it is).

Sunrise Sven stepped up to the paint plate and colored up this Deep Sea Dwarf (aka Dormak). She’s an Army Painter Speedpaint sorta guy, and that’s absolutely fine by us! No one is gonna be crazy enough to ask why she got put on KP duty, but our guess is she’s crazy and angry enough to like it.

We wanted to make sure we showed off the backsides of these DnD miniatures because of all the great, subtle details on each model. Come on, like we’re not going to show off a sack of potatoes or a massive grappling hook hoisted over one’s mighty back shoulder. Frickin’ epic, right?

Alrighty, let’s assign some NPC personas and roles to our newest Hovertrain pirates, which, by the way, can also moonlight on our latest pirate ship 3D print! You gotta love it when your frsh, beloved minis can slide right into multiple scenarios and terrain!
Let’s start with our newest heavyweight:
Next, let’s get the specifics on our snarky kitchen hand:
These two newest crew members were really a blast to 3D print and paint! Even better, they give our crew some lovely additional flavor.

Lastly, let’s do a quick Hovertrain pirate crew roll call to ensure all hands are on deck!
How great it is to see how far this list has come just with a few bottles of resin? 😉

One last publishing note. DM Ben has been put in sick bay as he was lifting something he shouldn’t have and is having hernia surgery on Wednesday, 6-16-26. He’s on strict doctor’s orders to rest for the next week. So, we thought this was the perfect time to give everyone on the 3DRPG team a weeklong summer breather. No worries, though. We’ll be back at our hobby desks on Thursday, 6-25-26!
Until next time, ya scallywags!
