Greetings, fellow Oasis seekers! We’ve got a couple of fun desert miniatures for you today, including a simple paint guide to create an opposing enemy sharpshooter squad. Let’s go!

DM Ben asked the 3DRPG crew to keep aggressively hunting for more desert-themed miniatures for both NPCs and monsters, since he thinks this is our biggest gap in homebrewed encounter prep. We all feel really good about where we’re at with core terrain and scatter pieces, thanks to Aether Studios, Cast n Play, Iain Lovecraft, EC3D Designs, etc. Besides, mini collecting is so darn fun and you can never have enough of ’em.

Let’s stick a pin on a world map and grab these Persian Archers by Brite Minis. Not exactly right next door to Egypt, but still rich in history and still in a desert climate. And we absolutely adore the sculpt. We completed this whole Patreon release, but we’re going to break it up into several posts so each subsequent Tomb Thursday post has a little more variety.

Novice painter DM Ben was willing to try these sharpshooter STLs as long as the steps stayed simple. So, he did some experimentation and came up with the following brushstrokes:
DM Ben struggled to pick a paint scheme for the clothing, but then, almost by accident, the white base layer with the Strong Tone wash turned out amazing for our sand-soaked environment. Like, who isn’t filthy while hanging out in the desert? We especially love Brite Minis because they always include relatable paint examples from their final Patreon releases.

Our second miniature comes from Iain Lovecraft’s crazy Desert Adventures Kickstarter. This Ruffian is perfect for maybe a pickpocket, street ambush, or enemy spy scenario. There are some really cool sculpts in his KS, and they’re very painter-friendly.

Resident Painter Kimmy Utah painted this sneaky sand dweller, and seriously, what’s not to love here? We always marvel at her paint pot selections. She is also so gosh darn good at coming up with cool patterns on her pieces. Those red pants are something right out of an old classic movie.

New desert dawg miniatures that certainly fit the part, right?! We really enjoyed 3D printing and painting these up. They’re just what the dungeon master ordered.
Until next time!
