Train Tuesday P20: Train Crane

We’ve had a blast showcasing all sorts of fun and exciting Construct prints for The Forgotten Rails, but let’s take a moment to switch tracks and share a scatter terrain piece that will surely be a big hit at the table.

Three critical elements are needed for The Forgotten Rails gameboards: hovertrain cars, miniatures, and scatter terrain. Thus, we must think about all three so that our table setup is sizzlin’ when it comes time to set the scene or roll for initiative.

Cast n Play’s Terrain Essentials Interiors 2 Kickstarter was a dandy. Backers got a whole host of different environments, including Egyptian, Treasure Caves, and Sewers. However, our absolute favorite set was the Steampunk Workshop. The mechanically-induced pieces were perfect for our robotic settings.

While we’ll never be able to resist printing all these STLs eventually, the scatter terrain subset was especially compelling. And that’s where today’s featured print comes into play!

Novice painter DM Ben took a stab at painting this industrial hook, and we’re pretty pleased with it. Our new crane covers a 2×3 d20 area, which is the perfect size for us. You can see our Orc Fixer pairs perfectly with it. Careful with those levers now!

The constructs are incredibly strong, but sometimes the hovertrain cargo is too big and bulky, and a sturdy crane must finish loading everything into the train cars. We’ll also share our simple paint scheme in a future Coloring Constructs installment!
