In-game audio has long been a problem in our DnD campaigns. So, we were pretty stoked when the talented crew at Monument Studios asked us to test drive their robust sound library, especially in lieu of their latest Kickstarter, which is now live for the pledging.
DM Ben currently plays the poor man’s sound game in our work campaign by finding in-game sound effects and music on YouTube and sorta forcing them to work “in the moment.” It’s a haphazard approach that leaves a lot to be desired. The extra DM game prep with this old-school is also clumsy. Certainly, there’s a better way.
Their August Kickstarter officially went live on 8-20 and runs through 9-17 with plenty of tantalizing stretch goals for all its loving TTRPG backers. The goal of this RPG Kickstarter is a good one: improve upon their already slick Fantasy+ streaming service while continually building upon their professional dashboard for Dungeon Masters everywhere.
Even better, you can spin the sounds yourself by using the code “Kickstarter” and get 60 days of Fantasy+ for free (which is already a steal at a mere $4.99 a month). This way, you know exactly what you’re getting into before you pledge, which is exactly what DM Ben did, and he was really pleased with the user experience. This bold approach is how much this talented development group believes in their product. #gutsy
Now, the big question is how can we know for certain if Fantasy+ will check all our DM boxes? Welp, as you know, we like to make a lot of free one-shot DnD encounters, 3D-printed Wandering Monster tables, and campaign settings here at 3DRPG, so we thought we would pull a few examples from our blog archives to see if we can swap our make-shift YouTube sounds for Monument Studios’ professional audio clips.
We found a smattering of DnD scenarios we created that desperately need an audio boost and asked the magnificent Monument Studios team to suggest the perfect pick from their Fantasy+ Library.
To hear their suggested sounds, use the “Kickstarter” promo code for a 60-day trial of Fantasy+!
That’s a nice diverse list of typical DnD game sounds, right?! We’ll be sure to share future sounds in any of our upcoming one-shot encounters so you can see if they fit into your campaign, too!
Special thanks to ol’ Noah at Monument Studios, who helped us find better audio than our previous ho-hum YouTube clips by offering several fab suggestions from their robust 100 GB Hollywood audio library.
So far, we’ve had a blast going through all their RPG categories, such as fantasy scores, world sounds, scene setters, and magic spell effects.
Once we identified all our sound effects for our next game sesh, we needed to load them into their intuitive Streaming Dashboard so that all our new-found audio goodness was a quick and easy click away. Their interface video walkthrough is superb so be sure to give it a watch to get a solid idea of how their slick streaming platform works. With all this newfound knowledge in hand, you can definitely pledge with confidence.
Comparing our original mishmash of sound clips against their lavish library was no contest! You’re gonna love their TTRPG Fantasy+ Streaming Service, and with this new Kickstarter, it’s only going to get better!
Pledge away, adventurers…pledge away!
