Greetings, fellow firestarters! Today’s Wandering Wednesday is red hot and one you can 3D print and paint rather quickly for your next DnD sesh with your buds. Let’s go!

Today’s featured STL is a spinoff of a previous Will-o-Wisp monster we did for our evil Night Hag’s cabin-in-the-woods defenses. That Wilderness Trek Wandering Monster was inspired by the Wicked Witch of the West, who sent her flying monkeys to ambush Dorothy in the forest. Dungeon Masters naturally draw on their favorite movies and TV shows when building homebrewed TTRPG encounters.

So since we came up with an outdoor flying foe, we’re turning our attention to one that could come barreling down a dungeon hallway via a nasty magic user’s fingertips. Sure, there’s the classic fireball spell, but what if there were a smarter, monster-esque version of that that could literally chase down the adventurers?

Today’s 3D print is DungeonForge Studio’s fierce Pyromancer’s Fireball 2. It’s their second variation of this classic, and we might try the original version at some point, but this one leaped out at DM Ben when he found it on MakerWorld.com. Besides, how often do you see a large fireball with massive teeth streaming towards you?

Novice painter DM Ben painted these over a fantasy football weekend, as he’s had reasonable success with other fire-focused miniatures.
Here are his simple steps:
We’re kicking around the idea of painting the eye slits with that ASP Blood Red to further accent the eyes, but we’re really digging where these new fireball miniatures are now.

Again, our adventuring party couldn’t eliminate the Night Hag the first time, and she slipped away thanks to a Plain Shift spell. Utterly defeated, the group took her elaborate Cabin and turned it into their own Bastion. The witch is actively hunting the players and sending out Will-o’-Wisps and these Pyromancer Fireballs to catch ’em flat-footed.

Hence, as a DnD 5e stat block, DM Ben sees these fiery chompers more as a wizard artillery or hunter squad than as something that dukes it out in melee.
So, we see these launched in waves of 2-4, with a 300-foot fiery streak, and the players can try to shoot one or two down before impact. Remember, these are considered magical smart bombs, so they relentlessly follow their targets until impact.
Now, all that’s left is to update our free DnD table!
