WIP Wednesday has graced us yet again with our third installment of the Dungeon Ruins paint guide. This time, we’re going to get busy laying down some brickwork!
You’re going to truly love this theme because of its simplicity. Who doesn’t love a good set of ruins and a pulverized battlefield?!
First things first, though, let’s briefly check in on our steps:
The cool thing about this stone step is you can do as much or as little of the fieldstone brick painting as you want. You can even vary the number of colored bricks among the different 3D-printed Milestone Heroes Dungeon Ruins tiles.
We are applying three different paint colors onto our cold and battered bricks:
These are very reasonably priced paints. The Earth Stone is $12, but it’s for a very large four-ounce bottle. The Burnt Umber will run you just $.99 at Hobby Lobby. And then Yellow Ochre is super common, with DM Ben snagging a tube at his local Walmart for under $6.
You will be using a standard brush and applying these varying colors to all sorts of random stones. Get as crowded or sparse as you like. Once again, you’re going to be like, “Ummmm, guys – these don’t look so good so far.” Never fear! We promise the end result will be especially pleasing to the gaming eye.
Next week, we’re going to tackle steps 4-6 and ratchet up the pace!
