In today’s installment of Miniature Monday, we’re going way back when with a cool Loot Studios animal miniature that’s all packed up with no place to go.
We’re always scouting animal STLs, especially ones with all sorts of overloaded gear or riding saddles on them! All those strapped-on bits and bobs make for such an interesting and colorful 3D print! And we’ve got an especially good one today, thanks to Loot Studios!
This determined stuffed ox was a Loot Studios release from September 2020. It was just a two-piece set containing a colorful merchant named Brom Tricksleeves and his trusty transporting sidekick Buffo…such great monikers btw.
We asked resident painter Kimmy Utah to brush this one up, and thanks to all its charming, intricate details, we think she used more strokes than she could count. Our mighty beast is carrying everything but the kitchen sink in this STL!
This DnD miniature has plenty of use-case scenarios, including its rightful place in a large caravan, a party ambush/ox-knapping, or as a sidekick to a wandering merchant. All of these options are solid encounter plays, so it’s just a matter of picking the right spot to rock the ox.
Can you imagine creating a complete item list if your game group decided to rob the owner of this mighty beast hauler? Thankfully, it’s not as bad as it sounds. DM Ben will use a combination of a d20 Random Treasure Generator, Equipment Pack cards by TokenMenagerie (on Etsy), and Norse Games item cards to create the final loot list.
With the help of LokeBattlemats, we created a really fun caravan premise (and daring ambush) that we think will fit perfectly into your game! The Fugelfort v Packatase Caravan Route Rights was a labor of love, and we hope you’ll give all its DnD blog multi-installments a read.
DM Ben especially adores Shelley Packatase of the East Indies Trading Company, so our oxen miniature is an excellent accompaniment to the big ambush encounter. This home-brewed scenario was a random roll on the Loke Battlemats Long Road set (which is so darn good). Plus, we’ve already come up with the ancillary NPC miniatures.
We loved Shelley so much that created a detailed jailbreak scenario in our other campaign, which involves a hairraising prisoner transport. Our oxen could certainly be featured in that caravan too!
Or, you could have this gear trotter be a sidekick to Fenton Hindergrass from our Wilderness Trek Wandering Monster table! Selling one’s wares on the road can be a bit lonely after all.
Until next time!
