Greetings, fellow cornhuskers! We have a poppin’ good new Wandering Monster entry for you today! So let’s peel this one back and get to it!

The 3D-printed miniatures for today’s Wandering Monster Wilderness Trek table addition were solely based on their cuteness. And if that’s a crime, well, color us guilty as charged. Old schoolers might cry foul here, but we think picking the mini first because it speaks to you is absolutely ok. Besides, after 25-plus years of DnD, you just want to see something else on your game table besides Orcs, Goblins, or Kobolds.

We love to be inspired here at 3DRPG Studios. It’s honestly the core reason we do this lil’ daily DnD blog. Researching these TTRPG articles inspires our game, and even better, it’s a way to give back to the community and grow the hobby. That’s an absolute win-win.
The brilliance that is Dimension 20 gives us such joy, and if you haven’t seen Fantasy High, you are truly missing out. The whole first and second seasons are free on their YouTube channel; we highly encourage you to consider picking up an annual subscription to Dropout TV. You will unlock a cavalcade of amazing DnD content, including our favorite series, Cloudward Ho.

In Fantasy High season 1, episode two, Clash of the Corn Cuties, the brilliant Brennan Lee Mulligan (and the show’s Production Designer, Rick Perry) unveiled these Corn Cuties during a crazy cafeteria fight. In these sample pics, you can see just how amazing these home-brewed monsters truly are.
Even cooler, Dimension 20 often auctions off its remarkable production sets and miniatures, with 25% donated to charity and 75% to help fund future shows & sets. These Corn Cuties got a lot of attention and rightfully so.

Now, for whatever reason, Dimension 20 doesn’t typically produce books from their series or sell their STL files for others to relive the fun. Now, this probably has to do with the complex licensing rights, but it is a low-down, dirty shame. Thank goodness our 3D printing community is stuffed with talented STL designers who sometimes release similiar files so we can get in on the fun too.
Enter one Crithippo who made his own version called a Corn Demon Mini and made it a free download on Thingiverse. It’s the only file on his profile, but it’s the most important one as far as we’re concerned.

DM Ben “volunteered” to paint these misunderstood vegetables, and they were a little tricky, as the face portion wasn’t as deep as we would have hoped. Hence, the eyebrows, eyes, and mouth weren’t super visible after priming. No big whoop. We just roll with these sorta hobby challenges (pun intended).
We then did a flocked base and a tuft to give it all a bit of a cornfield vibe. We didn’t put FAN Necrotic Flesh on the husk ends, but might try that color on a couple for a better peeled, weathered look.

In terms of a DnD 5e monster stat block, again, there’s nothing official coming from Mr. Mulligan, but we have read that he likes to reskin classic monsters for all their amazing homebrewed creations. Some say his Corn Cuties are modeled after Goblins, and the Cream Corned Mother that spits these freaks out is modeled after an Ochre Jelly.

DM Ben pictures these crazy carbs as more of a minion swarm encounter, and we made eight of them in total. Hence, we see the stats more like so:
We couldn’t determine whether anyone in the community made the Creamed Corn Mother STL, which actually spawns these guys, but that’s probably because we all hated that side dish in our school lunch.
Now all that’s left to do is update our table and add another nifty on-decker for all your DnD monster needs.
